May Day Fun Fair
Posted May 6, 2003
Baxters (yes the famous Baxters who make the soup) had a May Day Fun Fair yesterday at their factory. It's only about 5 mins drive from my house so we went along to see what there was. Just the usual bouncy castle, merry-go-round and food stalls etc, but it was a nice trip out, and Jamie had some fun there.

The Wee Free Men
Posted Apr 24, 2003
Well I had a good day today, Terry Pratchett was going to be at Ottakers bookshop in Inverness (1hr 20 mins away from my house) signing his new book "The Wee Free Men" which is released in a weeks time.
So I got to meet the man in person for the 3rd time. I bought a couple of copies of his new book (one for an office friend) and I also took along my copy of Nightwatch for him to sign since he doesn't mind people doing that.
There was a quite a queue, so we're glad we went early

C#
Posted Apr 22, 2003
Oh I've also been teaching myself C# as a programming language. I used to program in Clipper from 1984 until about 1996, but had to change my work type when our work reorganised. I really missed programming and decided to learn a windows orientated language.
C# is damn good and very easy to learn, the windows stuff is so simple. I've already written a complete tradeskills system for our Dark Age of Camelot game we play, for storing orders etc.

Update
Posted Apr 22, 2003
Aha I came across H2G2 again, so here goes
What's been happening since October 2002 I hear you ask? Well not much . I did eventually get Arx Fatalis, but way after my birthday since it never arrived in time. It's pretty good, I'm still playing it after getting very stuck fairly early on and leaving it alone until last month, now I'm charging on.
We're still playing Dark Age of Camelot, which I'm now in the Closed Beta for housing since I'm part of the press (I newsedit for daoc.catacombs.com). It's looking very impressive and I can't wait for it to go live.
We got a shot of Divine Divinity from a friend, so my girlfriend is busy playing that while I try and finish Arx. I'm also playing Unreal 2 just, excellent game, but doesn't seem as story intensive as the original.
We just bought a new jeep, Vauxhall Frontera Estate 2.5TD. I love it We're also planning on doing up the kitchen and bathroom at some point very soon and then going over to Sweden later in the year (hence the jeep to carry all of Jamie's toys) to visit my girlfriend's family.
I'll try and keep this journal more up to date now, but I can't promise.
