Thank you for the welcome. Also, may I say, you guys work fast. Congrats on the ACE commission. I would like any help you could give for writing entries for the guide and my journal.

Thank you

Not at all, Myrmicat -- only happy to.

As for journal and Guide writing...hmm.

The journals are really pretty freeform, just a sort of running dialogue, a place to jot down thoughts. Naturally it's not private, and others can (and will) read it, but otherwise, just treat it as you would an ordinary journal, and scribble down anecdotes, little stories, backround information -- anything you like.

Writing for the Guide is more structured, however. Journal entries can be written in plain old text, but actual entries should be written in a markup language called GuideML. lt's also used on your own page, if you like, to personalize it a bit more. lf you saw an option for choosing what format you wanted to use on your page, when you started making it, you might've seen a reference to it there. The language is really very easy, and you can find out more about it at:

The GuideML Clinic

An excellent advice page for Guide entries is lurking here:
http://www.h2g2.com/Writing-Guidelines

and it has lots and lots of useful information and links to take you to places like the Peer Review Page, which is basically a writing clinic for Guide entries, where you can get proofreading, editing help, and all the advice you'd like.

lf you've an idea for a Guide entry, the best thing to do is to first Search the Guide, and see if one exists already.
lf one does, read it, and if you've something pertinent to add, just leave its author a message, and if it's rewritten to include your additions, you'll get collaborator's billing.
lf there's no such entry, why then, the topic's yours! Enjoy!

Those two links should help get you started, and remember that your journal doesn't have to be formatted or in GuideML; plain text is fine.

Also, feel free to check out the forums -- they're another interesting bit of h2g2 culture that really oughtn't be missed.
Best of luck!
