It might look like a silly question to you, but.
Are you a robot of the system ? (Hell, I must be crazy to talk to a harddisk...)
Or are you some kind of supervisor of this site (H2G2) ?
Or is that angel business just fun ? And you have someone or some program that alerts you of newcomers ???

I am not a robot. (Funny, you're the second person to accuse me of that this week.
) Nor am I any sort of official supervisor. There is a group of Assistant Community Editors (or ACEs) that fall into that category.
The angels just volunteer their spare time to greet new researchers. I found you the first time by clicking the "Who's Online" button. It identifies new researchers who are online. I found you again today (totally by accident, I might add) by sequentially typing in user numbers. If you type in high enough numbers, you get new researchers (and a LOT of blank pages).
And are the Angels fun? You bet!
