I was wondering where the hell Toxxin was coming from. He is coming from a complete lack of observation of the human condition - 'there is no godshaped hole' forsooth!

Well, if he does not ask the question, no wonder he does not understand the answer.

You're welcome! It's always difficult to know when to be ... erm ... more direct. Too soon, and you start to look like one of those argumentative no-hopers! There is a strong emphasis here (h2g2) on bending over backwards to be understanding, something I sometimes find difficult. [On occasion, only my motto - which I truly believe, and try hard to stick to - holds me back.]

I think Toxxin may be young, and full of the conviction that he knows all there is to know. It goes with the territory, particularly nowadays. I blame the parents!

Certainly full of the conviction that he knows all there is to know. Though I have him pegged as an academic in his 40s or 50s who uses words as tools.

I am in my 40s, and I use words as tools, but I am not an academic. I am an intelligent pragmatist - or a pragmatist anyway.

No matter. We shall see what we shall see, and I have decided to address only those questions which actually address what the entry says, and not what it does not say. And the entry IS substantially better for his first round of input, and I am grateful to him for that.
