Hello and greetings genfinch, to this The Guide.

As an ACE (Assistant Community Editor) it is part of my job to amble around - along with my fellow ACEs - and meet and greet the newer of our number in a friendly, low calorie, fat free manner, pointing you in the right direction should you get lost and generally being helpful.

So here I am and I'm pointing.

The best way to get to know your way around is by going for a wander. If you get lost you can click on Help! or here (http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/dontpanic) where you should be able to find an answer. Alternatively you can reply to this message, or leave a message at my homepage. If I can help I will, if not, then I may know someone who can.

A useful starting point is here http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/welcome which is a good start point for most things.

In the mean time, while you wander around, please help yourself to smiley - cake and smiley - bubbly and should you have any questions, just raise a paw.

Til next time.

Ekki

PS: Please don't feed the smiley - monsters ... they can bite smiley - yikes

Thanks a lot for your warm and friendly words, but as a matter of fact, I´m not SO very new to the Guide, I have been around for a year or so. I just haven´t written anything yet, but have been wandering around alright. We met on the Limerick game on Monday, if I remember rightly.
The only thing I have to find out right now is how to create an entry for my article. If it´s still on my homespace in a week or so, you know I´m in trouble and got lost somewhere on the Guide. I´ll take a towel to be on the safe side. Wish me good luck...

I think, inorder to submit your article, you will have to move it from your homepage and create a new guide entry.

Go to your homepage, click on Edit on the right hand side and copy the contents of the page.

If you then come out of Edit mode and scroll to the bottom of your homepage to the section called "My Most Recent Guide Entries". Within that section select "Click here to add a new Guide entry" and paste the text into the text box.

I'd imagine this will simply recreate the page in Plain Text, unless the entry on your homepage is in GuideML. To change the style to GuideML, select the relevant tab at the bottom of the page and click "Change Style".

GuideML gives you more scope in what you include and details as to how to use it can be found here --> (http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/guideML-clinic). Pictures and Gadgets and all the bits that give the pages zing, can also be found here.

If you want to submit your entry into the edited guide, you can request that it be peer reviewed. Start a new conversation here http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/peerreview including the url of your entry and people will give you feedback.

If you have any problems, once again raise a paw. By changing what you've written to being an entry, it'll free up your homepage to enable you to write what you want about yourself.

Hope this makes sense. If not raise a paw!

Ekki

Consider all the paws I have not raised but stretched out to thank you. Everything worked out nicely. My article is somewhere around the Guide, although the URL escapes me. But what are search engines there for, eh?

Shplendid (said in a bad Sean Connery accent)

Are you going to update your homepage with details of who you are?

Being an ACE it means I'm nosy and like to see what people write about themselves!

Actually, I wrote the article in the first place so´s to avoid telling people who or what I am. But since you insist...
