nim, what a great story idea!! I don't have cable, and must rely on visits to friends to even see SG:A, but it seems bang on! Looking forward to more.

i have about half of season 1 on tape, courtesy of a friend. of that i have watched rising 3 times and about 4 more episodes only
good thing its going au fast once they reach pegasus.
just posted chapter 3. and i HATE writers who start with just one au change/x-over and then go into multiple crossovers, but i could't stop them from coming along

Ah, a fellow MASH fan, I see! Now I'm eager to read the rest. I only hate writers who get me started reading something they don't finish; so see that you don't leave us dangling!
Lovely writing, though, if I may, in Ch2, you have "safe" when you want "save", and "prize" for "price to pay". If only half of the American born students I taught at the community college wrote English as well as you!(Sigh...) I have been writing my own fanfic with your admonition in mind to keep the dialogue lively. You have definitely accomplished that. The amazing thing is that I've only seen tiny bits of SG, but can follow you without much effort most of the time. Cheers for a good beginning!

glad you both liked it i corrected "prize" but haven'y found the other yet
for the next story (not next chapter) i'm going to ask for a beta to put americanisms in it. it's hard to write if you don't even know the names of sweets or coffee brands
i'm going to start the next chapter tonight, but it will be a bit longer and take longer to write.

"Save" was something to do with spilling coffee, I recall. You could just make up your brand names, you know. I bet you'd think of something clever! The trendy coffee at the moment would be "latte" (that means an expensive machine puts milk in it, I think) from the gourmet chain "Starbucks", though for a nationaly recognized "made at home" you'd do better with Folger's. Unfortunately, I can't drink the stuff at all. Even the caffine in decaf makes me a little sick and crazy

as a mash fan, do you remember the name of that psychologist who became a semi-regular cast member (character name). i want to reference to him in the story, but watching my taped episodes is going to take too much time and will be too distracting
or is there a mash home page with info?

I'm not sure of the spelling, but Sidney (Sydney?) Friedman is the character's name.

Finished your story (left you a review at "wraitbait" too) Funny thing, you reminded me that when I was having a bad week last spring, one of my friends gave me sandalwood candles.
As I said before, I haven't seen much of SGA.(I, too, am a no-cable TV dinosaur!) Please tell me what "snaked" means?

i was just post a double take at your review, when i found you'd posted here as well
"snaked" is the same as "gaou'lded" (or what ever the correct spelling is ). it means "being taken as a host". as the symbiote would have access to all of the hosts memories, a snaked daniel would be a very scary thing. there is a story at wraithbait "later on" where you can see one - but it is in the later chapters.
thanks BTW for the mash info. i knew it was something like freedman or freeman, but i kept confusing it with morgan freeman
just spent 30 minutes in the doctors' office waiting for a cab to come, and then 1 hour in traffic and the only thing to keep me busy was plotting a clone verse story for way after the first run of the deadelus (the asgard/tauri cruiseship between atlantis and earth) i haven't even started writing comand decisions yet
somebody stop my brain please!

Thanks, I thought "Snaked" would be something like that, but the details help. I don't know what to say about your trouble with the taxi, et al. At least plotting a story sounds more entertaining than reading the 10 yr old Better Homes that the doc leaves in the waiting room! Maybe it's time for the sandalwood candles...

the following link is to a very great mash fanfiction:
http://www.wyrmrock.com/leatherpancake/shot.html
it is a crossover with the "mountie slayer" universe, but as it is a character tale from waaay before the main story starts, you don't *need* to read them.
which doesn't mean you shouldn't the mountie slayer is one of my fav fanfictions, i keep rereading the whole shebang every few month, selected stories even more often. it is a crossover/au between due south and practically every vampire/supernatural universe there is, plus a steady trickle of "guest-appearing" universes - like both x-files and scooby-doo a bit - more than a bit angsty and hurt/comfort, but nothing really too nasty, and lots of romantic. *sigh* i think i'm going to start rereading it again very soon. there is also a rather fun sg1 crossover there - "prisoner of the sun" and "pirates" is simply to die for
BTW, i posted a short story born in the taxi today, should be on wraithbait tomorrow

Delightful! Thanks for sharing. I'll be looking for your new piece.
BTW, Nim, I was listening to Ray Bradbury's "From the Dust Returned" on tape recently, (pure poetry in my opinion) and noticed that the entrance of the cat in chapter two reminds me of your intro on your home page - a lovely piece of writing in it's own right as I have said before. If you don't know "Dust" I think you would enjoy it.
