That 70s style...
Posted Aug 6, 2014
We're ( and I) are going to a 70s themed dinner party.
Menu
mini toast Hawaii
Prawn cocktail
beef wellington
lemon merangue pie
we couldn't source any Blue Nun or Mateus Rosé wine, so we're slumming it with the good stuff.
Music is sorted, from the happy-clappy-hippy-stylee stuff from the beginning of the decade through metal and punk with a lot - a whole lot - of disco on the side. and since we'll be in Düsseldorf There Will Be Kraftwerk.
Of course we have to dress up. (actually in his normal gear) as a greebo and me as a punk.
What I would like to know is: apart from holes in my tights (fishnets) and a black leather mini skirt (my mini kilt is way too small ), studded neck and wristbands and a load of earrings and safety pins - what else do i need to be a (cariacature) punk?
Oh I'll be dyeing my hair purple and spiking it up. I have the obligatory black lipstick and nail varnish.
Do i have to spit a lot?
(and I really can't wait for our next one - 80s night - to get all gothed up one more time)

today is a good day to drink champagne...
Posted Jul 10, 2014
... we always have a bottle of champage in the fridge because. Occasions. (and as they say, sometimes the occasion is having
in the fridge)
I recently took an exam (2nd year OU economics) and it was horrible. The whole course was horrible, the subject is fab but the course was horribly. It made me . A lot. and seriously reconsider doing a degree. I don't need one, I won't be able to do anything special with a PPE degree at my age. But anyway.
Usually I am really good at learning for exams - not so hot on coursework, but exams are my forte. I can cram with the best of them.
But this one had me stumped. Nothing was sticking. I couldn't get a handle on the diagrams, couldn't get my brain around some of the theory and as for the formulae - forget it.
so it came as rather a surprise to find that I'd scored a 2 in the exam, a 2 in the coursework (well, that wasn't a surprise, I knew it already) which means I have a 2 overall (2.2 in normal uni speak)
so I am extremely and am drinking

can anyone help me set some goals? (w**k centric)
Posted Apr 14, 2014
it's been pretty easy and "I don't care" for me over the last few years since "secure promotion to manager" has pretty much been my sole aim.
So now I have that one under my belt I have to make new goals. First, I do need to pick up more of what bean-counting actually is, that much is clear. But I also have a feeling things using the words Leadership and Team will be required.
4 or 5 are enough - so, good people of h2g2 (well those subscribed here anyway) any ideas?

Online cinema tickets
Posted Mar 29, 2014
What is it with online cinema reservations?
I want 2 tickets for Captain America. In the row I want there are 3. But I can't reserve two because that leaves one single seat. Which the cinema presumably believe they can't sell. So now instead of definitely selling 2 and possibly the one later (i've been to films before and split up from my friends because I've really wanted to see it) they are left with the possiblity of not selling 3.
