Sho - employed again!

so, I've sort of got back into running again after the "hot" weather, and holidays. But I'm only managing once a week at the mo smiley - wah due to time constraints and earlier onset darkness.

Anyhoo, my course (? is that the right word?I can only think in German when it comes to running, so the word is "strecke" if anyone can help me out) is 5kms give or take 100m and I intend to use this journal entry as a diary to keep a track of my times. When I'm ready I'll add a k or so on to that.

so, right now I have just finished today's run.
Weather: damp but not raining - not even light drizzle, but the air is damp
time: 39m 22s

that works out at... 7.8 minutes per KM. I think

Is that rubbish?

You can call me TC

No. 5 times seven and a bit must be somewhere between 35 and 40. It's supposed to improve your brain, too!

Yesterday I watched (on German MTV) a Brainiac where they tested the effect of oxygen on people. Two Brainiacs were sent round a course on tricylces, then given a thinking test and then round the course again on space hoppers and then their reactions tested with paint ball guns.

However, the brainiac with added oxygen didn't do too well in the intelligence test (which was a Kim's game). But I think that may have been because he was less bright in the first place. Not that you have to be bright to be good at Kim's game. They should have given them some mental arithmetic.

It's raining today. Shame. Perhaps I'll start up running again next week. I keep forgetting to ask doctors and therapists if it's OK with my back, but I'll go on instinct and do it anyway. As long as I don't put my foot down a rabbit hole and twist my whole skeleton out of position, I think it'll be OK.

I think running is ok as long as you feel comfortable with it. I have a bad knee (what ex-soldier doesn't?) and won't run if I even suspect that I might have a twinge (although now i have spiffy gel-filled shoes I haven't had a twinge for yonks)

What about Nordic Walking? Or just Walking? Despite what most joggers/runners seem to think about walking, I think it's great.

Oh and for some reason I love running in the rain. I prefer it actually.

Gwennie

Just do whatever keeps running enjoyable for you Sho, otherwise you will gradually loose your enthusiasm. smiley - ok

I used to do my best runs in very hot and sunny weather and sometimes I used to go round again, just because I felt as though I could keep going. smiley - rofl Gosh! I miss running. smiley - wah Nowadays even a brisk 20 minutes on a treadmill gets my knees aching like bu**ery. smiley - erm I think that what really finished my knees off was participating in that stupid step aerobics for a year or so when it was fashionable. It could be a coincidence but that was when all my knee problems started. Nowadays I stick to my broomstick smiley - zoom
