Sho - employed again!

Yesterday I took the gruesomes to a wedding. It was the church portion of the affair, followed by the Reception.

The Germans have this curious (to me) thing where if you get married in church, it doesn't count until it's made official at the registry office. Usually people will do the registry office thing during the week, and then the church thing on the following Saturday.

One of my workmates got married on Friday morning (registry office) and invited all of us girlies to the church & reception. (we all get on extremely well, so it's not surprising that she'd do this. There were 6 of us altogether, plus 2 husbands and the World Famous Gruesome Twosome)

We arrived at the church to be greeted by a friend of hers with two baskets of rose petals: my friend had asked the gruesomes to be flower girls when they left the church. In we went, and all of us from work (including the HR manager who had invited himself to the church bit) sat together. Gruesome #1 went off with one of my friends and #2 sat (wriggling and complaining) with me.

Typical for a European wedding (church was at 3.30pm) it was evening dress. My girls were wearing pink floral printed dresses and dolly shoes (patent leather, of course) and I had finished a nearly ankle length black sleeveless number on Friday night. I really took care to make sure it was very form fitting (!) and teamed it up with a black jacket for the church. Some of the other women were in what can only be described as full-on ballgowns! Lovely, but strange at the same time, to my British eyes. I mean, fancy going to a church wedding with out a hat on!!!

Anyway, the ceremony was nice, with a really cool young vicar. It only lasted half an hour, and when they were ready to leave the church the gruesomes both had paddy fits (who knows why?) and wouldn't do the flowers.

Ho hum.

Then we drove in convoy through the middle of town - as is common in lots of countries - beeping our horns and generally being loud and excited.

The party was fab: champagne reception first, then sit-down buffet dinner and dancing. We from work, of course, were the loud raucous table which everyone visited over the whole evening. I had a fab time dancing with just about all the guys there, and some of the women.

I'm glad the jogging is paying off in terms of fitness!!

At around midnight the gruesomes were just starting to get cranky, so we went home.

Just the sort of day we needed after the stresses and strains of the last week or so.

And today? Just flopping around, doing a bit of tidying up and other girly stuff.

Paddy fit = Tantrum

Well, paddy suggests Irish, and we in Ireland hate political correctness...
