woo hoo!
although it's not like I ever deny myself chocolate when I want it anyway
The Gruesomes and are in UK, they have visited my family and now they are visiting his.
And I'm on the first of 6 days off w**k - and loving it! I slept until nearly 11 today something I normally never do, and I've just moseyed around doing not much.
Bit of looking at PR (funny, since I got my scout badge I've been in PR less...) and some work on my spinach thing.
Vacced the living room ceiling (yes, I KNOW) - and took down the manky curtain for washing. Made some mayonnaise and yoghurt, did some washing and now I'm about to vac the stairs.
Then ironing and either TV or a film. But I can't decide which film to watch. I got my Narnia DVD yesterday and have watched the extras. Sort of déja vu becuse the chappie talking about swords and stuff also did the LOTR stuff. Oh, I could watch the specials from Return of the King - I haven't done that yet
Or I could watch the Burton/Taylor Cleopatra. I got it for Christmas from . He got me Kingdom of Heaven but by the time he got shopping it was only available as a double pack with Cleo. Or I could watch Master & Commander.
Decisions decisions.
Of course I could go to the pictures and watch Inside Man. In German.
Life - it's so bloomin' difficult to decide!
But first, more chores!

Oh I dream of having days to myself, most I ever get is 6 hours during school term-time, with the odd over-nighter if my daughter obliges.
I'd go with Burton/Taylor Cleo myself...and laugh at the Egyptians with the milk-white skin

I've just had a week of 'me' time - spent it preparing the living room for decorating, still not finished, all those books have to be put back into the shelves

oooooooooooooooooo
pity you didn't mention that a few days ago - I'd have come a day earlier to help.
I've just alphabeticised (?) our downstairs bookshelves while I cleaned the hall. Fantastic fun!
GB - I know how you feel. Usually I don't get a second to myself. But look what I'm doing!!! Washing curtains!!

Well, I've started to put the books back, but in no particular order at the moment, I don't have the time for it now.

now you see, that's where you and I differ on the tidying front, I think.
I would rather leave everything in piles where it is rather than put it away incorrectly!! (knowing that given my lack of time I'd never ever get round to sorting it out)
it drives mad!

Books...why keep books?
Once read - recycle!
Otherwise they're just dust-gatherers...
Box 'em up & ring a charity to come collect

nooooooooooooooooooo!
I never ever give away my books. Nope. I reread a lot of them, and some are parts of whole collections and series.
Clothes, pictures...just about anything else I can part with without a qualm. But Records/CDs and Books just have to be kept.

I have no Daughter and no Sister for 3 days, so I can write myself silly without feeling guilty

oooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
well, I dusted and cleaned the hallway, including vaccing the ceiling which gave me neck ache
but I didn't get round to the downstairs loo, which is another job for tomorrow
I did watch Million Dollar Baby, though, instead of Cleopatra - and oh my I am so glad I did

Good heavens, I never give any of my books away. I love all of them like children and reread them all.

I have to admit that I am always surprised when I hear people like GB (and my uncle) who don't hang on to books - I think it would almost physically hurt me to give them away.

I can'r give away books either, much to my mothers disgust, I have 4 boxes, 4 bookshelves and several piles on various surfaces full of books

My hallway is 5 metres long with full bookcases on each side... and upstairs we have another filled to bursting bookshelf, plus my shelf of referencebooks, 's shelf of cookery and cooking related books and each of the Gruesomes has a small bookcase.
My dad got rid of a load of my books when he left the Army and moved into his house - thinking that I wouldn't be able to schlepp them around (I was in the Army myself)
I cried buckets
and am slowly replacing some of them.
(yaay, the Green Smoke series are now with in Middlesborough, on their way to me)
Next I'm going to start re-collecting the Swallows & Amazons series.

That's whast I'd usually do, but you know I'll have visitors from tomorrow on, I just can't öleave all the boxes in the living room and have the shelves empty. I'm trying to have a rough order now already, it will make things easier when I find the time to really sort the books.
And no, my books and I shall never ever part

that's one reason I don't allow visitors at Sho Towers!
although I must say that after a few days of tidying, when I came home from shopping today, I was very impressed with not having to fight past bikes, ice-skates and the Gruesomes' school bags.

I know what you mean, add shoes the size of children's coffins and inline-skates, and you get the picture here.

that's such a German expression! I don't think I've ever heard it actually said in English though.
Odd, eh?
