Hey Shosmiley - smiley

I'm subbing your entry on Postcrossing - it can be found at A10726850. If you could take a look and make sure everything looks all right, that would be excellent. I also updated all the statistics to the current numbers as given on the website, though of course they'll be outdated very quickly!

smiley - cheers

hi emr - thanks for subbing this!

2nd section (Post Offices - Do they care?)

this sentence is missing something
>>This has led to an increase in the volume of junk mail than in making the sending of letters more attractive to the private user.<<

I think it should be:

This has led rather to an increase in the volume of junk mail than in making the sending of letters more attractive to the private user.

Aside from that, it looks mighty fine. Thank you!

Sorry, btw! Nobody in PR told me that the headers should be capitalised and it never dawned on me to read the thing before it got sent for subbing.

smiley - biggrin

spread the word

I really think that Postcrossing is truly reflective of the spirit of the internet, even more so (smiley - yikes) than a lot of hootoo!

As long as it really is as altruistic as it seems!

Would you like to know what I got in the post yesterday?

Apparently I sent a postcard to a first-timer (she had sent five off but mine was the first she received back) and she was so happy she emailed me and asked me if she could send me something from Berlinsmiley - erm so I had a little thinksmiley - winkeye and told her of my interest in Ancient Egypt and Nefertiti smiley - whistle

I got back a padded envelope containing:
The Berlin Egyptian Museum flier in English, with a picture of nefertiti's bust on the cover.
A large postcard with views of Berlin's buildings, the centre one is the museum, complete with Nefertiti stamp (front and back view).
A card "Nofretete" with explanation (in German) but the colour is a fabulous emerald green.
An invitation to attend the "Long Night of Museums" (A832691) tonightsmiley - cry

To say I'm gutted is putting it mildly but I guess there'll be other years.

So thanks once again for introducing me to this scheme Sho, I'm well happy with my little treasures of Nefertiti.smiley - loveblush

Um, worthy of note, I've received a letter-packet from Iran today.

He's sent me notelets (they open in reverse to ours) of:

Baba Taher's Tomb in Hamadan
The Dome of Abu Lowlow in Kashan
The Tomb of Hafiz, Shiraz, Fars Province
The Tomb of Cyrus (kurush)
Basketweavers and prayer-mat makers in Gilan Province
one one wondeful tomb I can't read because it's all in Arabic.

smiley - wow

oh don't get me startedsmiley - rofl

A volcano! smiley - wow That'd be in my top ten, I reckon. I posted my last "Lincolnshire" postcard today (to Finland) so I'll have another winging its way to me when that's received. Need to replenish my stock now, I've plenty of amusing, funny cards (you know this) - but most people ask for views or maps of where you live. The one I sent today had a cartoon of King John losing the Crown Jewels in The Wash - something I mentioned in my Lincolnshire entrysmiley - rofl

One girl told me how much she enjoyed my "homepage" (my h2g2 PS) and she had added it to her favourites, I keep meaning to wade through all the postcrossing emails to find her first name and add a wave to my PS.smiley - biggrin

This morning I've received a postcard from Normandy, France (the first from that country). That's where my Dad was in the war, where he was wounded.

Strange I seem to be receiving more postcards than I've sent.

We need a smiley.
