Hello Twilight! I am your assigned Guardian Angel. So, is there anything specific I can help you with? Or any general queries? It will be a pleasure to offer whatever advice/guidance/assistance/general help as I can.

For now I'm fine, just checking out the site. Thanks for the offer though. Maybe you could direct me to some of the better places to visit.
I will probably need some help with my page, once I get the text for it sorted out, so if you don't mind I'll get back to you for that one.
So until later.
twilight
p.s. I found out today that there are two other researchers named twilight. Is that a problem here? I would like to keep the name since I'm thinking of making it a theme for my page and from what I see on their pages, they don't seem to be around here much.

Some of the better places to visit:
Jo's donut stall
Greebo's Party
The newcomers welcome
Forum and Firkin
All are accessible from my page - just scroll down to the list of forum entries, though you may need to 'see more postings'. They're all there somewhere. Any with numbers in the title (like Greebo's party), go for the highest number - it's the most recent one.
As and when you need help with your page, just shout - although it may take a little while for me to get my head round the 'new look' - it's thrown a (small) spanner in the works for quite a few people!
As for sharing a name - It's only really a problem when people with the same name start posting in the same forums. Other researchers share names (eg Greebo T. Cat and Greebo the Kat). To resolve any probles, these two have slightly (but fairly obvious) ways of saying the same thing. If you think sharing a name might cause trouble, you could thing along those lines. Or you might want to just add an identifying tag on the end - 'Twilight the ...'
It's up to you.

Actually, I changed the name a while after I send you the message. This seemed better than beeing a number.

Dear Guardian Angel,
I have a guestion. I have read a few (some approved) guidie entries I think are not quite correct. What is wisdom. (one was on my home town, so I do know it's wrong).

If you think you've spotted mistakes in an entry, the best thing to do is click on the name of the editor of that article. This will take you to their homepage, from where you should start a new conversation, with the subject of the name of the article in question. Use this forum to bring the errors to the light of the editor. If they're worth their salt, they'll do something about it.
This is also the best way to make a contribution to existing entries.

I saw that, problem, some of the things I objected to were already mentioned in the forum but no note was taken from them. I just have a problem seeing my home town described soly from the student point of view, there is more to it than that you know. (you know, there's people (like me) who actually live there).

If the editor of an approved entry isn't taking note of suggested corrections, perhaps you might need to go higher. Just for my own sake, which entry (and forum) are you referring to?

Eindhoven. It may not be much of a city, I call it home.
BTW I have not posted anything about this in the forum, because the remark about Philips was ignored. (like it or not, it's a big part in the history of Eindhoven). There are more things worth mentioning about Eindhoven for travelers, other than students perhaps. As an example: It is the first Roman settlements in the Netherlands and the surrounding area has many sights of interest for archeologgists or historians (including a lot of prehistoric grave sites) but I don't want to start a new entry when we've got an approved entry to use.

I'm having trouble finding the forum you're referring to.
Basically, I think you've got two options.
1) Start a new discussion on the homepage of the editor - this will come to the top of the list, so should be read fairly soon.
and/or
2) Write a new article, expressing your point of view. If you submit this, and the editor thinks it is of high enough quality, it will get amalgamated with the existing approved entry to make one bigger, better approved entry. You'll still be left with your own entry at the end.

I'll try.
*Look horrified but is still detirmined to do a guide entry*
See, I've been at the cafe to often.

Best of luck. You should get a result one way or another reasonably soon. If you don't, let me know, and I'll take the matter a rung or two up the ladder of authority.
BTW, if you don't hear from me for ages, it'll be because I'm at home, where I don't have internet access. If you get stuck, try the ACE's homepage, at http://www.h2g2.com/A214769. It's a good starting point if you're having real difficulties.

Thanks for the advice and the notice. You have been a bundle of help and you've made me feel secure of writing an artikel here. Thanks. If I port I'll let you know.
BTW something completely different. How important is it for a person to have a perfect understanding of English on this site. I always thought that as long as you made yourself understandalble it's not that important. There was a very vicious (literaly) discussion on a forum here, where someone remarked that someone might want to use simpler words and the other person said that if someone wasn't able to understand English he/she should't be a such a serious forum in the first place. My problem with that was that although I could understand his posts I thought he used unnessecary difficult words w(to quote Mark Twain: Why use $100 words when $.10 words will do) Just to be sure how things go here, what is the vision of h2g2. I don't like his comments because for me English is my second language so his comments were ment for me, and he ment that I have no right to be here in the first place, but this is an English site.

I believe that the ethos of the Guide is that of understandability - it is, after all, meant primarily as a reference tool. If you submit an entry, the editor may change some of the word usage. That is, after all, part of their job.
Anyway, this site may be based in England, with the majority of users having English as their first language. But the beauty of the web is that it is completely international. You might like to consider writing some entries in your first language. This would perhaps help to make the guide more accessible for others whose first language isn't English.
Everyone has a right to be here. Just because they don't necessarily speak English brilliantly, they still have the right to be here.
