Hi

Maybe we should take discussions about other things than your writing to another place - for instance here smiley - smiley.

I don't know what is the proper procedure - if any - with texts you submit to the Underguide.

It probably boils down to what you want: 1. a thread that mainly discuss the writing, you have submitted or 2. a thread that takes the researchers whereever they tend to veer (off to(?)). smiley - winkeye

Some words I pick up from books in English (like veer) - I never look them up but understand them in the context they're in. But when I want to use them I'm not sure of the grammatical consequences. smiley - smiley

How did Bella Ciao! go?

It went well, allthough my father-in-law frowned at the German (nonsense)version. He still doesn't like anything German. The Russian (nonsense)version was very Volga-melancholic smiley - laugh and the Danish a proper tribute - with an Italian translation to the dad.

Sig. S, his sister and I were the 'three fat sausages" (in the Ventian dialect) and my kids who did Avanti Popolo were 'the two little meatballs' (in Slovenian).

Most of the people there speak very little English, German and none Danish and wanted a translation - but how to translate nonsense to non-nonsense smiley - huh.

The songs were a part of a power point show about the sociological phenonomen Sig. A (my father in law) - very funny and with hopeless (but funny) translations into English and Danish.

Ciao bello smiley - smiley

P.S. Do you want a translation of Bella Ciao?

You know I got several translations. Several were very good, but one was a funny machine Google trandlations. I also downloaded several versions of the song, including the one I imbedded in the Gelati page I sent you.

It all sounds very worthwhile. I can imagine the old boy frowning seriously at the German version. My mother-in-law is Jewish. She would never buy a German car. Now one of my closest friends, Rainer, is a very smart German nuclear engineer. Time passes.
