you just gave me a blue screen of death
pleased to meet you too. even if it is in shockingly random fasion

You mean people don't stop by your space to say hello and cordially offer free beer often?
Hullo. My name's Yossarian.
Uncle Heavy [sic] Posted Apr 10, 2002
no. this sort of thing almost never happens to me. like sex in that respect. unlike sex in a lot of other respects, i fervently hope.
and if youll excuse me, i need my sleep. dont let that stop you from posting in this forum. hold an entire conversation with yourself if you like. i would, but i need my aforementioned sleep
Hullo. My name's Yossarian.

Well, if it makes you feel any better I'm not really used to people comparing my passing them a free beer and saying hello to sex, and so I wasn't exactly sure how to respond, although I do recall thinking of something brilliant to say this morning whilst I was hardly awake at this jazz band rehearsal that was going verry slowly (which usually is the case with that godforsaken band anyway). And, as is always the case, now I forget exactly what that brilliant response I was going to say was as I try to think back to it nearly four hours later...
In any event...
Sleep well?
*downs his in one gulp, digs around in his satchel, and pulls out four more*

its always the way, isnt it? you have a retort made of sheer celestail scintilation...which either comes 5 minutes too late or 5 hours too early. such is life.
i hasten to add that my prior comment was made at...lets see...2 o'clcok this morning...which may or may not defend its out-of-placedness...
but anyway, i am hugely in favour of being passed free beer at every opportunity...
sleep well? yes. ish. i dont get enough...10 hours is never enough
im intrigued...just wondering why you chose out of the blue to say hi. not that i mind of course, , just curious...
id like to put it down to noteriety of course, but thats self delusion for you...

I get about five to six hours a day. It's not so bad, I suppose, although I tend to oftentimes fall asleep while doing my reading for my Mod. World History class which is pain in the neck to say the least as I then never get to finish it...
Also, I guess the real reason I did decide to stop by and say hello is, to be honest, you reminded me of myself so I thought it wouldn't hurt to say hi and share a beer in good company and whatnot

Uncle Heavy [sic] Posted Apr 10, 2002
obviously you have very fine taste in self-personality. good call.
that probably means you managed to read my page from top to bottom. your braver than i thought...
5 or 6 hours a day is quite literally an obscenity. get more. tho falling asleep in lessons is commendable if you can get away with it. which i cant...im always busted. shame really...
still, i only have about te weeks of school in my life EVER, so its not so bad
Hullo. My name's Yossarian.
153745 Posted Apr 10, 2002
I wouldn't say brave. I mean, it was either read your personal space or finish reading for my thesis. The decision, especially in light of the fact that your writing reminded me of my own, was not an incredibly hard one to make
I missed that last sentence, though...
Hullo. My name's Yossarian.
Uncle Heavy [sic] Posted Apr 10, 2002
if my writing is so like yours, maybe i could write your thesis for you
i nearly had you then didnt i?
ten weeks. then im off to university. which is mercifully dissimilar to american ones...

I'll have to take your word for it, I guess, as I've never been to a British University. A friend of mine is going to Oxford next year. We'll see how he fares. He's one of those hilarious kids that, when they start laughing, one can't help but laugh too...
And my god if only you weren't joking about my thesis. I was supposed to finish the rough draft before spring break. I haven't even finished the reading yet and spring break is in two days. Two godforsaken days!
*not knowing how else to word his frustration he downs another in one gulp*
So, save ten weeks of relative freedom, what else is new?
Hullo. My name's Yossarian.

Actually, I've got to get going as I have some work to finish up but, don't hesitate to reply if anything comes to mind to my small-talk mindless inquiry
Goodnight.

Uncle Heavy [sic] Posted Apr 10, 2002
relative freedom? you must be joking...i have life defining exams to study for and then do...if i dont get the grades its no Oxford for me...
but i probably will get in. which college is this friend going to? post grad is it?
how long is this thesis? its not a phd thesis is it? if it is, i pity you...what on? no one ever does them by spring break. youll be fine...the best workis done under pressure
drinking, on the other hand, has done for many a thesis
what else is new? nothing, mercifully, nothing. its great.

Will that redeem us, Uncle Remus?
I think I may have killed myself socially on h2g2 sticking up for someone against another much more popular someone else...

I'm not a hot-tempered guy. I was sticking up for two people that had been hurt very badly. One of them was telling me what happened through her tears. Needless to say, I couldn't let him get away with it; http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/alabaster/F52345?thread=178775&latest=1

dont you go and leave. i sympathise and understand, ottox's self pity can get a bit galling, but i can see where hes coming from. just because people might attack you for it, doesnt mean you have to leave. just bear it stoiclly yah? and then kiss and make up
Hullo. My name's Yossarian.
Ottox Posted Apr 21, 2002
Of course he won't leave, because then I'll start to haunt him and that is not something anyone would like!
And noone will attack him - *if* they do I'll haunt them, and as I just said...
(Oh, and I certainly agree with UH's comment about Ottox! Though I hope I'm not so bad at it as someone else in this thread! And sorry for butting in, it was only because I saw two of my favourite h2g2'ers in the same thread.
