Thanks for the cake, most thoughtful! I'm getting around to putting fingers to keyboard (just 2 of them, and 1 thumb – I've got the full set but most of them don't know their way around a keyboard!) and saying a bit about me. Watch this space (or I suppose it should be that space – mine).
I shouldn't worry too much about the boss. He's probably only playing Freecell anyway.

Gosh!!! That boss posting was a long time ago!! I stopped working there a year ago, when I left to have a baby! He is nearly a year old now (and I still manage to post reasonably regularly!!)
welcome to the crazy world that is H2G2!!

I have had a quick look at your newly formed personal space, Eldeedee. Where in the West Country are you? My Mum (Carole - the fourth Glummer) lives in a little village near Honiton, they've been there for about 15 years now, since my Dad retired. That makes it sound as if my Ma is a 90 year old whizz on the computer with her arthritic old fingers - she's not, my Dad retired really early. She does not have arthritic old fingers, either, but then again, neither is she a whizz on the computer!!!
You sound like a very busy semi-retired person, with all your travels and volunteering and stuff. Mind you, they do say if you want something done, ask a busy person!! I have an inbred inability to say NO, which is why I am always so busy (as are my parents!!) Would rather it that way, though!! I like a bit of volunteering, too. Mine is all child based, though (as I have three young children - my entire life revolves around them, which I guess is how it should be!)
and (I really only like Latte coffee, and my 8 year old made the cake, so it is more like a biscuit and may well have egg shell in it, but it is the sentiment!!)

Hi! We live in a village near Bridport, West Dorset. Right now I'm in Selly Oak, Birmingham but will be home for a few days over Christmas before returning here. We're volunteering at the Quaker Study Centre, looking after visitors and students when the full-time staff go home, mostly evenings and weekends. It's great fun and you get to meet lots of interesting people.
P.S. What's a bit of eggshell between friends!

Hey, do you mind if I have a piece of your cake.
Hope your feeling at home with our little group, as you may have noticed the actual game of Mornington Crescent is secondary to us Glums, just wait till bunnyfrog goes off on one of his bizarre rambles, stick with us, a few have fallen by the wayside during the last couple of years, couldn't stand the pace, when your ready we will tell you about Pave.
As you can see we have all change our names in your honour, you can alter yours using the My Preferences link on the left hand side.

I guess over the festive season we're all pretty "caked out" – mmm, yummy marzipan!
I'm now back in Birmingham as I said I would be. It's pretty quiet just at the moment but we've a couple of courses coming in at the weekend so things will hot up then.
Not too busy to seek refuge in a game or two of MC though!
Happy New Year to you and yours...
