Cheers Lost, best wishes to yourself as well. Have you got any plans for the holidays, apart from drinking obviously?

Well.. No, not really.. There's a couple of us that will gather for a traditional Swedish/German/Austrian (how you can call it traditional, I don't know, but still) Christmas Dinner on X-mas Eve, and possibly an X-mas lunch thing on Boxing day. But other than that, it's pretty easy going all through the holidays. Will be working monday, thursday and Friday next week, so it's going to be pretty calm.

I finish tomorrow (21st) lunchtime and don't go back until the 3rd smiley - biggrin. On monday I'm away to my sister's in north Wales to spend christmas with them, my niece is two and a half and is a big fan of Thomas the tank engine so no prizes for guessing what she's getting for christmas.

On the h2g2 front my first edited guide entry is due to be on the front page on Monday so you can check that out and see if you can guess which one is mine, shouldn't be too difficult.smiley - winkeye

Sounds like a pretty good deal not being at work until after New years. smiley - smiley But then, I took my holidays at the end of October, so I guess I can wait a while.
So, your niece is into Thomas the Tank Engine, is she? So, you're gonna give her a Pokemon cuddly toy?smiley - smiley Wil it be Thomas himself, or one of his friends?

Your first entry? About the Forth and Clyde Canal? I thought you had the SETI@home project entry accepted as well the other day. Or was that a joint venture or something? Hmm.. Weird.

The SETI@home project was Galaxy Babe's entry, I added very little to it but she very kindly added me to the list.smiley - biggrin

I was lucky with my nieces present because she is also a big fan of jigsaws, so I got her a jigsaw of Thomas and all his friends, actually it's 4 jigsaws in the one box so it should keep her amused for a while, I also got her a Thomas sweatshirt and some little bits and pieces so she's got plenty of parcels to open.

What a nice uncle she has.smiley - smiley

Oh, okay, so the Seti thing was more of a corrabolation thing, then.smiley - smiley Like the different entries I've got as Edited entries under my old UID..

X-mas was very calm and quiet. I summed it up in a journal entry on my User page.

For New years, I haven't got much else planned. I'm going to work through the weekend at the manufacturing site for IBM (fri-mon) and then on monday night, I'm going down to Largs to spend the evening in the company of a few friends there. Not going to be anything very special, though. Just a few drinks and have some dinner or whatever.
I'll probably be quite knackered after doing two 12-hour shifts over the weekend and an 8-hour shift on monday down in manufacturing. But then, it depends on where in manufacturing they put me. Last year, I packed boxes for 12 hours a day.smiley - smiley Loaded computers into their boxes and taped them up. Last stop before shipping. Rough work. Oh well. It pays pretty well.smiley - smiley

I done a sunday shift a couple of weeks ago cos I knew I was going to be skint over the holidays and could use the extra money, then I found out I won't get the money until next months pay smiley - grr.It seems the work I was doing goes through a different departments budget, so my department has to bill them, then when they pay that I get paid by my department smiley - erm or something like that. I just wish somebody had told me that before I made plans to spend the money.

I know what you mean. I reported some overtime at the end of last month (about 22 hours of it) and expected it to be on my december pay-check, but it never showed on my account. And my HR manager is probably not around to sort it out for me either and I'll just be damn lucky to get it for next pay check. Same with the over time this month....
