I noticed you visited my entry on Kalevala...
We're having a Scandinavian Meet Up in Stockholm mid December, would you be interested?

Despite the fact that I ain't from Scandinavia, I would definetely be interested...The only problem is that I would probably not be able to come to Stockholm in December...I was planning to go to Finland around New Year's Eve with some friends, so it would have been possible to make a little detour to Stockholm, but instead we are now going next summer.

Not from Scandinavia? Sorry, my mistake, but when I saw the Finnish on your page, I thought you might have been...

Nothing to feel sorry for - how could you have known? Well, I speak Finnish quite well now (unlike the time when I made that page, at that time I was hardly able to speak at all), I'm into everything Finnish, I know quite many people in Finland, I know lots of "finland-crazy" people in my country, and I would like to study at least one year in Finland if it will be possible... But the only thing that ain't very Finnish is the fact that my mother is German, my father Hungarian and that I'm born in Bonn, the former capital of Germany.

"finland-crazy"? Wow, didn't know there were people that interested...
... I myself was born and grew up in Sweden, but I've been taking an interest in Finland, especially during the last couple of years, feeling that I am NOT completely Swedish after all...

Ain't that special at all, I have yet met some other people who are also "crazy"...Sometims I have the impression that Finland is, though very slightly, gainig popularity, but I haven't got anything to do with that, I was already interested in Finland before I noticed that. But still, 99,999% of the people here hardly know anything about Finland. Maybe it's my personal world view because I have got to know some Germans who are absolutely "finland-crazy".
You say that you've developed an interest in Finland mostly in the last years, so I would like to know if you speak Finnish at all. Probably you do if your parents are Finnish, but if you have always lived in Sweden, it's at least worth asking...

Definitely worth asking, one of my colleagues has a Finnish mother, Finnish first name, but doesn't speak a word of Finnish (except 'a beer please' but with a Swedish accent)...
...but yes, I do speak Finnish, although I find reading much more difficult...
...I have a 6 years younger brother, and we have always talked Swedish between the two of us, but we both have spoken Finnish with our parents.
