R Day 3
Posted Jul 22, 2001
Well clearing the garden certainley gave my other things to think about, body now aches all over. Managed to fill the skip in 5 hours and not an old mattress in sight. This always reminds me of the 'one foot in the grave' sketch, were he hires a skip to find that somebody has dumped a 2CV in it, on opening the door a mattress falls out, David Renwick is a brillant comic writer. Anyway told my mates about R and all they wanted to know was how much I was going to get money wise, typical really. Need to focus on get a new job, I think i'm going through the angry stage now, especially as i'm hearing how one colleague is getting a promotion out of this. Why me? has my luck finally run out, or is this good luck in disguise, only the future will tell.

R - Day 2
Posted Jul 20, 2001
Bit of a strange day at work, I don’t think the news as truly sunk in yet. Everybody in the office is being sympathetic, though the news doesn’t seem to have reached any of the regions yet, if so nobody has brought the R word up the conversation. I can understand that, even to me it feels a bit embarrassing, even though it’s not me who’s being made redundant but my role, not much of a comfort though. On the plus side I’m seeing another agency on Monday, day off work, which was meant to be a day of rest but everything changes now. Should get to forget things this weekend as I have hired a skip, and about to remove all the rubbish at the bottom of the garden that the previous owners of the house left, after all, its only been two years since moving in. Manual labour you can’t beat it to take things off your mind.

Redundancy
Posted Jul 19, 2001
Thought I start to keep a diary of the next few months, having in the first time in my life been made redundant today. I suppose its not all bad, I fortunately got written into my contact some monetary protection against this, first Ive got three months at work, I will lose my job on 19th October. Second if I havent found a new job before then they will have to pay me an equivalent to 9 months salary, but if I do find a job between now and 19th October, they will still have to compensate me 6 months salary for the inconvenience.
I should point out though I did/ do enjoy my job so while the money is ok I am not happy. I didnt even see it coming> I fell hook line and sinker for my bosses "youre safe" line. On the plus side an agency Ive signed up to has already got me an interview on the 27th, though since this will be my first in five years Im not hoping that much
I hope writing this will get me going and hopefully the next few months wont be all bad.

Work
Posted Aug 20, 2000
You know work is begining to get in the way of my H2G2 life, this is getting serious. At the end of August my current role becomes redundant, thought i'd mention it here just to get it off my chest, as I haven't mentioned it to my wife yet, I know,I know, but I think the worry would be too much for her. Anyway they've promised us all new jobs, just doing what they haven't said yet, should get to know by Sept 1st otherwise i'll be sitting at my desk logged on to H2G2 all day. And Notts County lost 4-3, in the last minute as well, i've said it once and i'll write it again, Bugger.
