Welcome to the Guide, Wireman! I see from the "Scottish Researchers" forum you're in London at the mo. - I spent a jolly summer there doing some contract programming for a German firm. The East end is very Scots-friendly, or was in 1987 when I was living there!
I'm back in Aberdeen now, and spend much of my time loafing around the guide - I think you'll enjoy it here!

Hello Peet, thanks for replying. Now I know I exist (woohoo!).
I work in the East End but live in the verdant acres of the South West.
I'm Glasgow born'n'bred but I've got a couple of good mates in/who come from the North East.
As I said I'm still at the blundering stage but 'loafing' seems to be something worth aspiring to. (forgive preposition at end of sentence but it's the end of my shift and I'm knackered!)
Hope to blunder into you again.

You've probably got a quicker trip to work than I had - I was living in East Ham, but working in Houndslow! A product of my ignorance of the layout of London, I arranged the accommodation before I came down
I worked out that if I was earning more, I could commute from Aberdeen (via Heathrow) ten minutes faster than from East Ham!
