I like your name - I am reminded of a creature in the Moomintroll series by Tove Jannsen, the Hatinfats or Hatnifats- are these the same?
BTW, my favourite houseplant resides on my user space, drop by to water it if you like (my part time gardener is away )
Hey there!

Hello, hello, anybody there?

I'm soooooooo sorrysorrysorrysorrysorrysorrysorrysorrysorrysorrysorrysorrysorrysorrysorrysorrysorrysorry!
I visited your houseplant, it's lovely. And it seems to be quite harmless. These are my favourites.
Hatifnat are really in Tove Janssons Mumi Troll book. The reason why I am Hatifnat comes from...
OK - one of my friends once said that everybody can be described as a person/character from Mumi Troll-stories. It really worked, suddenly I noticed Mumi Mammas and Little Mys etc amongst my friends. And several Dront Edwards, too. (I'm not very sure that the names look like this in English ) Majority of my pals diagnosed me as a hatifnat. So I am. I can see why they thought so and if you no anything about hatifnats, you know something about me, too.

Oh, and for you, who had to wait for stupid me who just didn't noticed yous posting.

Oooh, chocolate, pity I am on a diet (but virtual chocolate is great!)
Don't worry about missing my post, you seem to be accumulating quite a few
I notice you have spelt Moomintroll differently from me, and also Hatinfats...is this a language difference? (I have my books in English, and you might have them in another language?)
I dont' care which is the right one, I'm just curious...
Have a lovely day
Hey there!
Hati Posted Nov 29, 2000
I write it quite random. My books are is Estonian and there are Muumitroll and Hatifnat, majority of the persons are totally in Estonian and obviously mean nothing to you, e.g. Nuuskmõmmik or Koduvana. I don't know the proper names in English. Nuuskmõmmik was the one who came with spring, a friendly and wise guy as I recall and Koduvana was not so pleasant person who had a very loud voice and very strict attitudes. What's the English for Tuu-Tiki?
And for solace in your diet - have

Hmmm, I hope that's a low-cal cake...
yumm! And good for me too!
I must admit, I have not heard of those new characters, although I don't have the entire collection of Janssen's books yet. (I stress yet!)
I seem to recall the books were based on Norweigan folk myths about creatures, is Estonia near Norway (Excuse my ignorance, I thought I was informed individual about the places of the world...although I haven't travelled nearly enough to have seen the world)

Hello!
It seems to me that we just happen to hang around here in quite different times. It's 8 a.m. for me now and I,m very sleepy.
First of all - Muumitroll. The book was written by Tove Jansson who lives in Finland, but she is Swedish origin. And the stories have not so much to do with any mythology. Muumi-house is quite like her childhood home and the characters are mostly her fantasy. Trolls do live in Norway but they are different. Huh, that was a short introduction to literature.
I live in Estonia as said before. Estonia is directly south from Finland, only a Gulf of Finland between us. And recently it was a part of USSR. Norway is not so far, too.
Hey there!

Dang! I just spotted "Hatifnat" on the Who's Online list, thought to myself -- that's from the Moomins and planned having a fine time striking up a discussion about that.
Just to find out that Tashalls' already been there, seen that, done that, got the T-shirt...
*sulks*
Anyway -- in Denmark they're called "Mumitrolde" and they're certainly popular with my kids! We had quite a good time in '99 going to see the Moomin World just outside Turku.
Best rgds

Oh, lovely!
I always enjoy chatting about Muumitroll-stuff. I've never been in Turku, how it was? I meen, I've seen pictures and so on but is it real, does it fit in the feeling you got from the book?

Hatifnat: I live in Australia, so the time difference is quite large - but isn't that just the beauty of this place, conversations can take place on opposite sides of the world without anyone getting tired.
Snatragenius: I'm curious as to what my t-shirt says, I hope it's not too smug
Wow, learned more about my fave childhood books in a couple of days than in my entire life!
Perhaps you should write an entry about them, Hatifnat, as you seem to know a lot more about them than me.
Hey there!
Hati Posted Dec 1, 2000
That is why I decided to stay here, Tashalls.
As about writing the entries - I'm afraid my English is not so good.
But I can try of course.
Hey there!

Please do! The Guide is crying out for an entry on Moomins! If you would like any help in looking over what you have written, I would be glad to help.
(and practice makes perfect... )
Hey there!
Hati Posted Dec 1, 2000
OK, I'll try. Can you give me any URL where I could find the names of main characters in English? I guess I can't write'em in Estonian or not even in Finnish. I will let you know when I've started with something. Sad part of it all is that I'm gonna have RL duties that will keep me offline until Dec 18th. But altogether we have plenty of time, so why worry now...
Hey there!
Tashalls, Muse of Flights of Fancy (Losing Weight at A858170) Posted Dec 1, 2000
that's no good (I know all aobut RL commitments keeping you offline)
I will try to find a URL for Moomintrolls!
Hey there!
Hati Posted Dec 1, 2000
and for you!
Sometimes RL is not so bad, I think now. I'm going to Brussels for a week and this is quite exciting for me. I've had not very much possibilities to travel and I hope I'm gonna like it.
Hey there!
Santragenius V Posted Dec 1, 2000
Maybe it's time to start a club for H2G2ers having too much RL?
Tashall, your T-shirt simply reads: SG V visited Hatifnat and all I got was this lousy T-shirt...
The Moomin land in Turk was great -- my kids (as the best judges) loved it! My son just immediately gave Moomin-mama a huge hug! And the characters are all there, looking quite real wioth their huge white noses...
Hey there!
Hati Posted Dec 19, 2000
I'm back again
Also I found a place with the names it is at [url removed by moderator]
for my comeback!
