Oh, they generate an awful lot of foul-smelling effluvia, eh? Herman's got a covered box; it's in the computer room because the only spot in the bathroom is between the head of the bathtub and the wall and he can't get back there easily enough (not to mention the horror of combining clumping litter on the floor with wet, bare feet ). So it's right there under the window in the little bedroom with the computer in it- and it's like the little bugger holds it all day until I'm either setting up a DVD to burn or eating dinner (I have a clear view of the litter box from my part of the couch) and then has a dump. Then he scratches- the TOP of the box- for a good minute or too, rocking the box from side to side. If the box is a-rockin', don't come a knockin'.

Hope you have a good weekend.
I've got his in the corner of the living room under a nest of tables I don't use anymore. Though I may have to get a lid, or paper the walls under there.
How do you get rid of it? I flushed it down the loo, and had to spend a fair old while with the plunger.

I just flush it. My advice would be to flush small amounts at a time, with repeated scoop/drop/flush steps. Otherwise it can clog a bit, yes.
Good weekend ahead indeed. There's a lovely Indian restaurant located a short walk from the Old Town School of Folk Music, where the show tomorrow night takes place. So we'll be having our dinner there beforehand. Yum.
Otherwise all I've got planned is a bit of holiday gift shopping courtesy of K, king of procrastination, and more Blake's 7 and classic Who on DVD. In just a few weeks I will have a copy of every Who DVD that's been released so far (as well as several videotapes), including the R2-only one with McGann.

Blake's 7 *shakes head*
The news here is that Simon & Mary have broken up - sort of. They're still on very good terms, and spending lots of time together, but Simon has moved out to a village called Waldringfield. Mary's taking me out there tomorrow for a little do. I'm giving him my telescope since there's no street lighting there, and it would be too good an opportunity to miss.

I don't know where you got the impression it wasn't good- it's actually really good, and better than a LOT of other sci-fi from the same time period (Battlestar Galactica and Buck Rogers spring to mind).
Sorry to hear about Simon & Mary, though I am glad they're still on good terms. With whom did Henderson go?

My kitteh heartbreak continues unabated. On the way to buy a paper this morning I found a collar surrounded by clumps of fur. This one had a tag on it, the name - Scruffy. I handed it in to the local vets.

Maybe he pulled it off? Or maybe someone wanted to take him home and eliminated the evidence.
I'm sorry. Poor Scruffy. I hope he's OK.
Now you see why I am in the "don't let domestic cats roam free" camp. At least when it comes to town/city cats. Not that I don't put out food for the cats I see out and about- just that I couldn't let my own little buddy out to get hit by a car or beat up by other neighborhood critters.

I heartily agree. There are enough dickhead boy racers around here to stop people going out too.
I've talked about it with other people and the consensus is I should get my own cat, which I've resolved to do. After Christmas, when I expect there'll be more than a few abandoned ones. But it'll have to be a housecat (or flatcat, npi).
I had a fantastic weekend at Waldringfield. The people Simon is sharing with are fantastic, the evening was a blast. I spent a lot of it playing the drums badly then ranting in the kitchen about the decline of the music industry. I took my telescope for a housewarming present and there being no street lights out there, the sky was a spectacle. I lined up the moon and lots of people were in awe of what they saw - even at a pretty low magnification (any higher and it would be a nightmare to focus/steer). We went for a walk along the riverbank and to the very lovely local pub - it is the model of bucolic English bliss. I wish I could communicate how serene and beautiful it was there - pick out a decent nature doc and you'll get the idea.
Things between Simon and Mary are shaky, I can't go into detail here except to say I'm acutely unimpressed with him at the moment.

Oh, dear. I hope things will work out all right.
As for getting a kitteh- I think after Christmas, when lots of people who thought it would be cute to give a kitty as a gift and then realized they're not knick-knacks is a fantastic idea. All of my kittehs have been adopted from Humane Society shelters (except Herman, who K adopted from a family with a farm- Herman's no farm cat material).

Had Mischief over again a couple of nights ago - what a sweetie. Pics on fb. The tag I put on him had gone, but I got no call so I'm assuming it's okay.

He's very fond of nuzzling up to my face - then trying to claw it off. My arms look like I've been self-harming.

Sounds familiar.
And someone got into one of my senseveiria plants last night, bent a stalk badly, and chewed holy hell out of the leaf.

Bad kitteh. And you think he would remember that the last few times he tried to eat one of them, be barfed for hours afterward.

Yeah, they do some awfully dumb, and cute things. This one likes to bite buttons off things. He bit one off one of my dress shirts and took a huge piece of the fabric with it.
But they give the nicest snuggles.
