dr Waz - here I live inland 1000 miles from the Arctic
and Atlantic oceans and about 2800 miles from the Pacific
and 2km down the road I just came home after observing one
gorgeous Sanderling in basic plumage - somebody loves me -
cheers - langsandy

Somebody must do. Inland but by water? Sanderlings and waves are like ... sea and shore. Back in September I watched them on an evening walk along the beach in Aberdeen, passing within just three or four yards. They might have been touching down on their way to Africa.
We have geese on the move here now. There's a mere near by. On Monday evening as it got dark, line after line of them took off though a path through the trees, flying West. It seems strange that they should want to fly at night but these long-haul birds must be used to it.

i'm interested in the species name - Pinkfooted or
Barnacle perhaps - seems through my life if I have a
wish list I get what i wish for - wives kids cars
birds and boats - its as though praising what's pleas-
ing to the eye falls in my lap but there's been bitter
irony in some things I have wished for - seeing none of
my wishes were born of a fully conscious state I excuse
myself of any wrongfulness when things don't go right
on the grounds that wishing borders on paranoia - like
wishing this dribble may elicit an intelligent response
- I'd love to know the name of these nocturnal geese of
yours - mr Godwyt [alias langsandy]
