I saw you on the Dr Who thread (we both nearly unsubscribed!) and lo and behold, you're also a fan of Discworld! So I couldn't pass up the opportunity to say hi!
How odd that I haven't seen you around before, when we've both been here for years.

Hi psychocandy, nice to meet you!
Yes the 15 year old was annoying from the start and my hopes that he/she would disappear were fading fast. Typical bloody English person, I did not speak up myself but was very ready to unsubscribe from my biggest and favourite conversation. So glad that chat has moved now, let's hope it stays there.
I've seen you on the board - you are more active in the conversations than me.....I guess you could call me a lurker, I tend to lurk and enjoy reading other people's comments, only contributing every now and then.
It's nice to have a new friend on hootoo. You like Discworld too huh? I'm gonna go check out your PS. See ya soon!

tee hee, you and I are rather similar! Both female, mid thirties, living with chap and loveable cat, just divided by the water living in different countries
A few of the things you are interested in I will admit to not having heard of before like tikis and Cthulhu......fill me in on some interesting stuff!

Oh, I'm glad to make a new hootoo friend with a fair bit in common, too! May I please add you to my friends list?
Tikis are those sacred Polynesian carvings, usually like heads or bodies. Around these parts it's common to be served tropical drinks in a tiki mug when visiting a Chinese restaurant with a liquor license. I like to find them at second-hand shops and yard sales and use them for putting plants in.
Cthulhu is rather more difficult to explain. Here's a Wiki entry that might explain better than I would: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cthulhu_Mythos
Are you into Star Trek at all? I'm a recent convert and am on my way to becoming a full-fledged Trekkie, I think.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who was growing annoyed with the kid and fanfic. I sometimes fear I am becoming a crotchety old misanthrope.

Hiya!
Yes, please do add me to your friends list, I've just put you on mine......and realised how few friends I have! Serves me right for lurking eh?
Ok, I know what tikis are now you've explained, and I'm still getting my head around Cthulhu!
I will admit to being a TOTAL trekkie! I was into The Next Generation (TNG) a lot, and Deep Space 9 (DS9) a fair bit, but not so much into the original series or to the one they made after it all which was set before it all! I can't remember what it was called but it had the Quantum Leap guy in it.
Are you into Heroes? That is my new favourite and am jumping for joy that it returns very soon. Will shut up about it now until I know if you are a fan or not!

I'm a fan of the original series but haven't seen any TNG or DSN. I'll say "yet" for now.
Haven't seen any of Heroes, not a single episode. But I could easily rent it once I get caught up on Doctor Who, which should be within a couple of months, so I'll add it to my list. Feel free to tell me what you like about it, though. I don't mind "spoilers" when it comes to TV shows, either, so don't worry about letting anything out.
Key: Complain about this post
