Thought I better bring the "Science of Discworld" discussion here not to interrupt the other readers Hope you don't mind!
Have to say that I am also tempted to skip over the not-too-scientific theories about the evolution of the Mind and read only about the Wizards. But that's too little! It's only 3-4 pages per every 15 pages "discussion"!
Oh, well, even TP can't be always perfect I guess, but I'll keep trusting him and buying the next books
By the way, have you read the 3rd book of the "Science of the Discworld" series?

Hi night-eyes! No, I don't mind the conversation being moved
Science of Discworld 2 was the first one of them I'd read, and it didn't inspire me to read any of the others. Once I'd skipped all the science babble it didn't take me too long to finish the book - like you said, the wizard bits were only a few pages long. I still love TP though and should eb starting Thud this weekend!

I read also the 1st of the Science books and I really liked it - there were some un-orthodox ideas which I found exciting. But this one is somehow too dry, doesn't always make sense and, as Della April put it in the book tread, very dogmatic and superior. Like they know everything and have the answer to every question!
But last night I was happy to discover that the wizards are requesting Granny Weatherwax's help, whom I very much approve of! I expect she will put the things in the book right
I am looking forward to Thud though (while waiting for the next witches book)! Just waiting for it to come in paper back.. This will also give me the chance to hear what you eager to buy the first edition people think of it and is it worth spending money on. How cheap, eh?
