Abbi! Abbi! Abbi!
WOW!
It is so great to hear from you!
I haven't much time to chat at the moment, as I am at a public computer, but I will try to get some recap together for next time...
I hope you are feeling well
You take care, ok?!

I now have a dog called "Fido"
She's a big goof. (Black Lab crossed with Chesapeake Bay). She thinks she owns my bed

Fido is barely seven months old and is learning her manners now, so she can be greatly frustrating to anyone who meets her. But, I have great hope that she'll eventually calm down and remember to not jump on people
I only have Hop Singh and Victor for s anymore. They're neutered males, so there won't likely be any new s around unless someone gets it into their heads to drop some off at the farm. (as they did last year - 12 of them)
I'm thinking of getting some more fowl this spring, and perhaps a and .
Take care, abbi

Puppies are a handful and there is no more active age than 7 months I will wait until my other ole buddy passes before getting another dog
I am thinking about what I want now.
Need another large fishing and hunting dog for the hubby.
I like having a watch dog.
Now that I am sitting most of the time, I'd like a lap dog.
I like beefy boys with not too sharp of a bark.
I have nixed bulldogs although I find them amusing.
Love bassett hounds and pugs so ,aybe one of those.
Pugs are not as stuborn or large so they would be wiser although I do not recall their voices.
I love stubborn, strong willed bassets and their voices,I just do not have the energy for a pup so maybe an older oneMeantime I want my current dog to have a good retirement. I am getting plenty of attention from him now that his dog buddy is gone.

Coon Hounds are wonderful beasts, too I almost got one that someone was giving away near here, but missed getting it by ten minutes He was neutered and only 11 months old, and the family was moving to a big city and couldn't take him.
Dogs are so cool
I have a lamb in my bathtub
It is one of the neighbor's that has pneumonia and frozen parts (three days old), and I'm trying my best to make it better

That is a good choice for the large breed.
My old buddy that is still with me is bloodhood and labrador
Happiest easy going dog ever, not the brightest (his buddy was scary smart)but bright enough!
Both of the last dogs were mixes.
Fabulous mixes
All future animals will be rescued as these 2 were.

I found Fido chewing on a dead today
If she does that again, I'll haave to put her down
The lamb in my tub is doing , and is now mine. He'll be my mascot at the farm.

I'm not too sure about the being alive when Fido was gnawing on it. I think it must have been dead, as Fido loves little Jim-Bob to bits, and wouldn't so anything to hurt him.

Sorry to be graphic I did not understand why you would have to put down unless he killed it
Is it due to risk of disease or am I missing something else important?
Jim-Bob is cute name

If Fido took the down, she would be no good for the farm as a guard , as she would inevitably eat all of the Plus, it encourages the to become more violent, and carnal.
Since the aren't mine, but my bosses (Steve-o), he has the "right" to put the down if she would attack his livestock.
It's a "farmer thing".
Fido is chained up now, and the Development Board has put out snares for coyotes, etc., because there was a night of terrible carnage last week, while Fido was inside the house for the night.

I get it. It is the farm thing
Of course it makes sense.
How terrible that him being off duty caused even more troubles.
Makes the dog job very important.
I suppose there are enough dogs around that getting non working a home is difficult to impossible.
I remember wishing for a farm until I met enough farmers at an older age to know a little more. I visited my relatives farms as a kid and enjoyed it. I was always called into the house for something when the reality was thought to be to harsh Except for the chickens necks being wrung a *test to my reality not much came into it. You taught me much more about the heartache after reading your posts.
I do wish my health allowed for more work with animals.
The number of animals I wanted have dwindled because I am more realistic of what is required and the cost.
I have great respect and admiration for anybody that chooses such an important job. Gambling on all of nature so much of the time. It is an awesome and difficult life to choose. I can only guess the rewards are as big.

having done it, both in Africa and france, i can confirm it is bloody hard work, a lot of the time you get torn between compassion for the animals and sheer frustration and eventually anger at the workings of the animal world.
On several occasions i have had s that are wonderful, lovely, affectionate, obedient....er....when you, the human, are actually there with them. But if you are not, the instant your back is turned, "Bye bye ". With somes, instinct is stronger than human master control.
karen!

is my secret name for Owen.
I went to a symphony concert last night that my first husband was guest artist for, and to freak out his mother (who happens to hate me with a passion), I gave him a big wet backstage in his dressing room
He was quite taken back, despite the fact that he knows I do things just for the shock value, but played along with the joke anyway.
I still want a though
