Hi Meg
Not into the simpsoms and I didn't know that Coronation Street was followed in Canada - There are a number of Canadians on site - the only one I can think of at this time is John The Gardener, his page is at
http://www.h2g2.com/U33262
There are expected to be quite a few people login on for the first time, today. If you were one of the many who came here cos of DNA's broadcast - Welcome to h2g2. If you were not then you are still welcome. I have been a researcher for almost a year now, since it was shown on TW in 1999 on BBC. Its a great site and different from any other site I have visited.
If you get lost you can visit my compost heap by clicking on my name above or just go to the front page - theres lots to do and places to see so I won't hold you to long cos you'll want to go searching this fantastic site.
Just to say, you can answer this posting by clicking on the reply below. It will come up on my page and I will get back as soon as pos. Any posting you make will come up on your page and you can get back to it when you have time. Beware sometimes a party breaks out on some forums - its that kind of place.
I see you have already dabbled a bit and written a short intro and made one or two postings. I read your two articles, The one on Hull is the better of the two but both could do with expanding a little.
Dont be afraid to add a few facts and figures, what there is to do there, where to go, is it worth visiting etc. Remember if someone looks up your page they will be looking for information about the place and not just a point of view.
You have already submitted it and you can update it as many times as you like, right up to the time it becomes an accepted page in the Guide. If you want to check out some of the rejection slips, The researcher Loony has collected a few from different people and gives the reasons why h2g2 did not accept some of the articles.
You can find them at:
http://www.h2g2.com/A183250
Many sub editors will gladly give you tips on how to get an article accepted - Loony is one and Hypoman is another - Your own countryman John the gardener is yet another. Also you can ask on the weekly newspaper the h2g2 Post which comes out every Monday at:

Plus anyone on the Ace page will always be willing to assist - just follow the links to the Ace's page from the h2g2 front page
http://www.h2g2.com
Wow, I have been rambling on a bit, I'll let you get on and enjoy h2g2 there is such a lot to see and do, it should keep you busy for a while.
- have fun.
The guys & gal are really friendly, so expect people to drop in and say Hi always check under the Discuss this Entry banner on your page.
Hope you stick around

Hi back! Thanks for the advice. I heard about this site way back in December, but didn't really do anything about it until now. (Typical. )
Are there really that few Canadians on the site? that's bizarre. there seem to be a lot of entries about the Ottawa area (well, Ottawa and Pembroke...so two. whatever.)

Yes - JTG who I mentioned in the last post is the most well known researcher from Canada but there must be a lot more. Just recently DNA (Douglas Adams) appeared on German TV so there has been a quite a few from there, in fact over 500 in one day logged in. I havn't come across any from France but the USA is well represented as is Australia and New Zealand. So dont talk any Double Dutch you could be talking to a Dutchman/woman.
Its a great site so just explore and enjoy your time here
