ello there... Sometimes I hate computers.. I just wrote a long mail to you and then guess what, it froze. Anyway, I'll try to remember what I wrote and write it again. I remember this thing, I was just surfing around on this fine site, nothing special but then I find
this shocking thing, I saw that there where no members listed from Iceland. Well, last time I asked my parents where I lived they said Iceland, I'm sure they did! Well, maybe it will just fix itself, I don't know...
And I remember you asking where I got this name. I am going to answer that question even though the answer is quite long and boring. Here it comes:
When I was younger, and still breathing, I got interested on this little thing called the Internet. And then this little thing called the IRC. I had to think up a nick name and the first thing that flew into my mind was Mars. Very original (this was a long time ago =).
But there where some evil blokes that kept stealing my name so I had to think up another nick. After a while of brainstorming I came up whit this brilliant name, Snickers. But after a short peridt of time people started to nick that nick too =/ So I had to come up, again,
with a nick name that nobody could ever steal from me. Something silly and stuff like that. Then I ended up with this one, Snikkers, which I am perfectly glad with (check out http://snikkers.cjb.net/smiley - smiley.
This long and boring story tells you about how I got that nick, not an exciting story but a story though...
And yes, if this text doesn't contain a question for you, I probably forgot to write it..
Well, better luck next time... =)

I can very honestly say that your article on Iceland
http://www.h2g2.com/A319772
is one of the best and most informative articles I've ever read on H2G2. I'm very impressed. smiley - smiley
Everything that you could want to know about Iceland is there. Tell me, how long did it take you to research and write? I know I've spent ages trying to find out about what I want to say in many of my articles. I'm glad you wrote it though!

Well, thank you! I don't know what to say.. =)
The research itself didn't take so long to do, most of this is just common sense, but when I wasn't sure about something I just looked it up in a book or surfed it down on the Internet. Writing this down did take a long time, but I did it in small pieces so I'm not sure how long this actually took me in days (well, weeks whould be a better measure), but it went on for a long period of time.
Then agaiun, what was I to write? I just wrote everything down, but I didn't put everything I wrote in this. I took out all the part that didn't really say anything about Iceland itself.
Hum.. thanks again! It means alot to me to hear something like that.. I thought I needed to have one entry like this, that tells you something, because the rest will probably be like all the other stuff I have written.. (about moveing mountains and how sports can be dangerous)..

Yes, I guess that when you live in a place, you're bound to learn a lot about it just by being there - many of my articles on my home - the Isle of Wight - I wrote just from common knowledge, but more recently I've tried to research articles more.
I had a look, and so far, there is no approved article on Iceland, so your well-written article is just what the guide needs, and it's good that the article is an intellegent and well-planned one. smiley - smiley

BTW - I also found an "inferior" (briefer) article on Iceland here:
http://www.h2g2.com/A243983
and another researcher from Iceland here:
http://www.h2g2.com/U116160
if that is of any interest.

Err.. I have a question for you people who know things..
I just got an e-mail that said 'Thank you for applying to become a field researcher for the Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy.' I thought I had already applied for that and I had my own side.. Maybe I just did that in my mind and all the forums that I've been talking on were in my mind too. Or I wasn't a researcher and I was just walking around the side, commenting on other peoples work and didn't write anything by myself. Is this dangerous? Please tell me, I'm afraid... =/

Sorry it has taken so long, but I was abroad and computerless smiley - smiley It sounds as if you tried to login again, or used a PC that you have never used to access h2g2. More importantly are you up and running now?

Well I am up, but I'm only walking.. Running is for those who like sports... I don't =) (read Anti-sportist around the world?). I will be walking slowly for I've just started in a new job (lunch brake now =) but when I'm in, I'll be back on my feet walking (or even driving if I've got my driving licence by then =) (still about three months but hey, who's counting (I am =))...
I'll see you around next time I'll need something... Why don't pizza places delivere drinks only? You allways have to order some stupid pizza to get something to drink to your house... =/

Nope, don't think so... but I could have been, because most of the time I' not myself =)
I just found this side about one and a half month ago when I was browsing on www.douglasadams.com and I found a link... thought it might be fun being a researcher =) (and it was indeed)
Reykjavik Music Festival is this weekend =)
