Oops! again...
In answer to: Is the Magpie a beautiful bird?
What I MEANT to post was:
Yes, very.
Based upon:
beauty: noun, that which is pleasing to the sight... (Chambers, 1989 2nd edition)
Is The wean blind as well as hyper-intelligent? ed.
The reply I made on the message board reads wrong to me. ed.

I may be blind, newolder, but I'm not deaf.

No, but.
I'm just making the point that Nature Study can address reality in a wishy-washy, opinionated way that Science itself would not want to even consider.
I think that makes Nature Study a bit silly.
Good to see you back, by the way. How are you finding the new boards? Only discussion allowed per thread or, at least, only one that you can follow. (Of course, dumbing down is NOT an issue, ha bloomin' ha.)
The wean.

Your point is well-taken. I'm finding it difficult to locate any scienstists hereabouts (they seem, mostly, to stay on the Science & Nature Messageboards) but nickname Formerly Phred seems to be talking some sort of sense amongst this virtual absurdity.
I have been trying to post a pithy note anent reality too but keep getting gasps of incredulous gibberish in reply - I think I'll return to post the next effort on the Science & Nature board of my choice soon.
My view of the h2g2 virtuality is that its quite small, really.
Write soon, ed.
