Careful, JC.

I too joined the FFFF in the mistaken belief that it was a venue in which we were allowed to speak disrespectfully of religion.

Apparently not so. We have to accept other's faiths - even the barmy new age ones that are just role-playing games taken way too seriously.

Your negative comments will be taken as offensive, and this will be pointed out.

Carry on the good work!!!!!smiley - smiley

smiley - sorry

Ok - I'll be more careful, but I've more or less been quoting some of the more extreme followers of various religions. I'm not saying that it's wrong to follow a religion, but all the time there are people who are trying to 'convert' others by making them worried about death.

No - My initials are JCJ... smiley - smiley

You get me wrong!!! Don't be sorry!!! The more irreverence and the more people get p***ed off the better, IMHO. I'm getting ticked off by some of the po facedness in there (see my last post for an ironic counterblast).

I mean...surely we're not meant to take religion *seriously*?smiley - smiley

I was wondering whether it was JHC as in 'Jesus H Christ'.

Yep - the same way that we take stopping contagious bacteria from spreading seriously...

[that's the best analogue I could think of...]

Re Tibetan Monks.

Hmm. I wonder if standards of healthcare, literacy and freedom of opportunity were higher or lower under the Buddhist theocracy than the current Chinese rule? I don't know. I'm only pondering.

But I do suggest that Tibetan Buddhism is a big lump of superstion - much of it quite nasty - with some good PR in the form of the Dalai Lama....who does indeed seem to be a good man. But some of the by-products of his superstition within Tibet were general ignorance and a strictly hierarchical society!

I've met some nice Christians too and am good friends with a charming and compassionate muslim Imam! They some how manage to be good *despite* their religions.

No one said that the French were amazing people, but we still kicked the Germans out... twice

At least there are some religious people who aren't overly fanatical, and even sometimes friendly... smiley - smiley
