Westie - 1. colloquial New Zealand noun. A NZ petrolhead. Characterised by a fondness for black clothing (leather, denim), big cars with big engines and music of the rock and roll variety (eg AC/DC, Joe Walsh, Led Zeppelin, ZZ Top, etc). Derived from the colonies of said individuals that can be found in the Western regions of New Zealand.
2. adjective. of or pertaining to, this culture.
Is this a fair description or no?

Hi Mustapha,
No - the Kiwi definition of a Westie is pretty wide of the mark as a description for me.
Cheers,
Westy.

You have to admit, though, western coastlines tend to have a strange effect on the people who live there. (I should know, I live on one)
Look at California.
