h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Hey, ZenMondo. Things with my ICQ have been downright weird lately. But I miss chatting with you. How is Conor doing? Have you scheduled surgery for him yet? Or another hearing test? And how is life in general doing right now? Written any good poetry lately?

Currently there is no new news about Conor's ears. We are still waiting on his surgery to be scheduled. My wife has begun the 'nagging process' to try to get it expidited. In the mean time, we have bought a book on sigining and hope to teach Conor a few signs so we can communicate.

In other Conor news we are making progress with potty training. Since he can't talk and tell us, we have to keep a sharp lookout for signs that he needs to use the toilet. He is doing very good at sitting on the potty.

Well, we have an appointment with the ENT now. But not until July 30.
He will then decided if indeed COnor needs tubes....
That is about it.

I remembered you today because I found a scoll online for sale (for an outrageous amount) that has the entirety of Sun Tzu's Art of War on it. I thought you would like it. Then I remembered to ask about Conor. Any news yet?

Thanks for thinking of me! Yes that scroll (its is a scRoll and not a scoll, right? ) is something I would like to have when I am eccentricly rich and no longer have to childproof my surroundings.

As to Conor he is still doing about the same. We have an appointment with the Ear/Nose/Throat Doctor on July 30. We will hopefully know more then. It sure is taking a long time. Its quite frustrating, actually.

Its very difficult knowing that he wants to communicate, and just can't figure out how. And we want to communicate to him as well. It pains me that my voice is probably pitched too low for him to hear me say "I love you". I can't wait for those tubes to be put in his ears and I pray that things will be fine after that.

Conor turns two this friday. We were really hoping he would be talking by now... *sigh* People say that kids catch up quickly once they get the tubes in the ears. I pray he will be talking and understanding soon.

*sheepish grin* Yes, I did mean scroll. Are you making fun of my miserable typing?

I had it in my mind that the appointment was June 30th instead of July 30th. That was probably wishful thinking on my part.

Maybe you can say 'I love you' in a Mickey Mouse falsetto. Okay, I'm stretching, I know...

Anyway, I think you will have a very unique experience. You will get to see Conor's understanding of the world move forward by leaps and bounds. It will be interesting to see how he reacts to the sounds around him.

Well, Conor's bday is today, he got to go to the Dr for his bday and get shots! He is 34 inches tall, and weighs 29.5 pounds. The Dr. was kinda upset to hear that he hadn't seen the ENT yet. But we were informed he was no longer taking new patients so we were lucky to get in when we did.

He took his shots like a champ, you wouldn't even had known he got them if ya didn't see the needles. Such a good boy, he even got to be weighed standing on the big boy scale.

I was a screamer when I got shots, I'm told. So obviously, Conor is either much smarter or much better natured than I was.

Well, COnor's surgery has ben approved! It is scheduled for Tuesday September 18th, we go in Monday for pre-op checkup, to make sure his ear infection is cleared up. So keep yer fingers crossed. We have waited for so long, I will be upset if we have to wait for the infection to clear. We have gone through two rounds of antibiotics. I hope this second one worked!

For those of you following the story. Conor's surgery went great without a hitch. He now seems to hear perfectly. Hooray! Now waiting for him to start talking.

I'm glad everything is doing well with Conor. I'm sure he'll be talking a storm in no time. Congrats to all of you!
