Hey there Greebo
tokoeka Posted Mar 15, 2000
Cheers for the welcome, always nice to see the red carpet thrown out... Have to say, this is the coolest Web site I've encountered in a long time now. What a great idea!
You've got the pro-nun-seeyay-shun of my name pretty much right. Well done. It's not hard really, just reads the way it looks. You know, it's kind of odd that a cat should be the first to greet me when I arrive here at h2g2 -- I think Greebo has instincts that are better than even he knows.
Maybe I'll add something more helpful to my h2g2 page soon. Those few lines there now might be seen as a bit pretentious, you think? That wouldn't be good. But probably the best guide to the researchers is the stuff they write about. And I've already made a start on that.
Thanks again, and have a fine & froody day...
Hey there Greebo
GreeboTCat Posted Mar 16, 2000
~big grin~... Me is quite happy saying hello... and being somewhat of a mystery is fine... here at h2g2, you are what you write... ~Greebo wears a proud grin at her wisdom..~
Me actually got you name right... ~Greebo jumps into the air, does and incredibly backward flip and lands back on her feet again...~... Me is terribly clever like that you know... ~grin~
Oh... hmmm... me is a she... by the way... sometimes its hard to tell... me knows... me has made similar errors before... ~huge smile~
Whoops

Apologies for the gender-al confusion there Greebo... I've encountered a (fictional) namesake of yours who was male (no relation?), and I made an assumption. Never healthy to do so, especially on the Wild Web you know, but no harm done tho', we're all friends here, right Greebo? (Your name happens to be good for rhyming, it seems. Apologies for the low quality of that effort, but it's early in the a.m. and one is never at one's best).
Whoops
GreeboTCat Posted Mar 16, 2000
~grin~... Me thinks you might be confusing me with Greebo who lives with Nanny Ogg in her cottage in Lancre... whilst me is Greebo who lives with Nanny Ogg in her cottage in Lancre... ~bigger grin~... notice the difference???
Double Greebo
tokoeka Posted Mar 16, 2000
Yes, that was the Greebo I had in mind...
No, I don't see the difference...
Is this a test?
Did I pass yet?
Can I re-sit?
Do you take bribes?
Double Greebo
GreeboTCat Posted Mar 17, 2000
You could always try to bribe me with a doughnut... ~grin~... if nothing else... me is feeling quite hungry... and me will love you forever... ~bigger grin~
Do you like Terry Pratchett books?
Silly question
tokoeka Posted Mar 17, 2000
Of course I love Pratchett -- doesn't everyone? (At least, everyone who's worth speaking of.)
Unfortunately, I've rather fallen behind in my reading... like, I think I've read only about the first 10 books, having been introduced to him rather late. I've just been falling further behind. Problem is, I have to do a lot of reading for my "job" (ha ha), so novels don't get much of a look-in... Still, there's always the summer...
As soon as the technology develops which allows us to send food items via the internet, rest assured a doughnut will be coming your way. That is, if I can stop myself eating it first. Kind of partial to them myself.
Silly question
GreeboTCat Posted Mar 17, 2000
Ooopss... sorry ~grin~... me is prone to asking the occasional silly question you know.... it's in the rules...
Me envys you a little... all those PTerry books yet to read... whilst here is lil ole me...having to wait until November for his latest Novel... Poot!!!!
On h2g2 it has become the norm... ~grin~... to give virtual doughnuts... etc... so you can give me as many as you want...
3.5 virtual doughnuts (double chocolate)
tokoeka Posted Mar 17, 2000
There you are. I don't think that's too bad, I managed to stop myself after eating only 8 and a half of the original dozen in the pack. You can send the half-eaten one back if you like, but I thought you might want it.
3.5 virtual doughnuts (double chocolate)
GreeboTCat Posted Mar 18, 2000
Me not mind sharing doughnuts with you... but you could have given me the bigger half!!!... Me is a growing cat you know!!!

tokoeka Posted Mar 18, 2000
Hey, don't complain, I could've given you none of them... Ever heard the phrase "beggars can't be choosers"? Which is not to compare Greebo to a beggar of course. Just a turn of phrase. (No, I'm not comparing Greebo to a turn of phrase either. Oh dear. I think this is what happens when one stays up too late without any coffee to keep one's brain active, or any doughnuts to soak up the coffee...)
If this makes any sense to you then please let me know what it means.
3.5 virtual doughnuts (double chocolate)
GreeboTCat Posted Mar 19, 2000
It means... that you now feel such guilt that you are now going to go out and get me a whole box of doughnuts for me ... myself and I... ~grin~

Of course, you're right. And here they are. Look, I didn't even break the seal on the lid.
