I feel compelled to point out a spelling mistake in your introduction, if only because it is otherwise very well written: "beleagured" should of course be "beleaguered".

Yes, you're quite right. The necessary alteration has been made, along with one or two unnecessary ones while I was at it. Thank you for dropping by my little hermit's cottage and troubling to read what I posted up on the front door (it's open, by the way, should you ever pass along here again, although you probably won't find me in very often these days. I tend to be out communing with nature most of the time, one way or another. But make yourself comfortable, please do - there are teabags somewhere, and a kettle, and a few dusty old paperbacks... )
