Hello from the CAs (unofficial greeting but I got hold of this communicator thingy while the others weren't looking and am now hiding out in an access port with it). We were wondering what had become of you. If you need a lift, just stick out a sub-ether thumb and we'll teleport you back on board while we're in the vicinity.

Hi SEF,
Thanks for the message. I got stuck on a Golgafrinchan Ark without my towel (been moving house), so I couldn't do much until we crash landed. I've just sent a message to Mina asking to be let back into the loop so that I can do some work on some graphics, let's hope she's feeling generous...

There's still an unclaimed Edited Guide entry and an unclaimed Collaborative Topic, but there's hardly any time left (and the Collaborative one does have an old graphic which would do).

I thought I'd pop back over this way. The list of people spying on your previous thread was growing...

In case you're wondering, I thought I'd better leave something on the other thread too for the benefit of the lurker(s). Feel free to add more code.

A cunning plan, but it seems futile trying to beat the system. We're surrounded.

Surrounded and possibly outnumbered (at least in terms of mere by-standers) but if one doesn't try to beat the system then it never gets changed for the better. Take the replacement graphic for example. It is ludicrously inaccurate for several reasons. At the moment the level/direction of education in the BBC is inadequate to appreciate this. Such fallacies are self-perpetuating unless someone does something to stop them. The science message boards are full of complaints about the BBC "dumming down" science. Sometimes ignorance goes beyond the casual into the wilful. Those people are probably lost causes and beyond reason but we still persist on the science boards for the benefit of onlookers if not the perpetrators. However, in this particular case when someone told me they were going to post about how misrepresentative the substitute graphic was, I warned them not to because people would only assume it was me anyway (duplicate IDs are easy). I haven't been back there to look whether they actually did post though!

Today's funnies:
- seeing through dark glass without light behind it
- oxidising water (when all active ingredient is gone)
- using bird poo as an example when it actually illustrates the opposite case (preconceptions of author)

Did you leave yet or are you hanging in there?

Just about hanging in there on the h2 boards, I've left the CA group though

Oh yes, so I see now from your PS. I suppose it took them a while to get round to removing the badge unless you didn't tell them at the time you mentioned it to me.
How is real life business? There seems to have been a shortage of builders lately. So that might hold up some architectural projects (such as one for friends of mine) but it does mean the industry as a whole is very busy. IT is apparently still very slow at the moment.
Key: Complain about this post
