Is that how you got your name? from that urban myth about some women who stutters and ...well I guess you know the rest, or your name is a somewhat tenuous link to A A Milne ? whatever.

Loved your poem, loved the Bin Man, love hearing anything "scouse" especially the sense of humour borne out of adversity. Couldn't find the link to "An absent Scouser's etc... still trying any suggestions?

I have two daughters living and working in London at the mo, miss them and can't wait to see them at Christmas. I was in Liverpool and its environs last December and in hindsight I want to kick myself for not cherishing the experience more. Now sitting 12,000 miles away I wish I was back there with my family, but still love my adopted country (New Zealand).

Thanks for replying to my posting re Liverpool.

See ya later

Hiya. smiley - smiley

Sorry about the link. It should work but doesn't seem to.

However, if you go to my page (by clicking my name above) and then click on the word 'Scouser' in the second section you will go straight through to the artcle. You'll find about 80% of the edited version is based on it.

As you're from Seacombe, you might also want to check out the Virtual Ferry 'Cross the Mersey link. Nowhere near as good as the reality (no sea air up the nose) but a good bit of Mersey nostalgia as you're in New Zealand.

Hope your daughters are enjoying London. I'll explain about the name Eeyore another time.

See ya later. smiley - smiley

Thanks for the advice I'll follow it up. I need to tell you once again how important the article on Liverpool was / is to me. I've been feeling very homesick, strange because I've been away for 15 years and the homesickness hasn't been around for some time ? I don't understand it but i got a great deal of comfort reading the article it was like I could still be there even if I was here. Anyway thanks again.

I'd love to hear more about your nickname when you have some time.

Regards

Skelligsbro

Eeyore has another wonderful story (well, perhaps lots which he yet to reveal) on a "Christmas" theme; a sort of Dickensian ghost story type of feel.
He made it available for the twelve days of Christmas (plus a couple) last year. I intend to request its repeat this year. It's far too good to have just one airing, but he is not one to "boil his cabbages twice". If you would care to join me in my request, it may help. (Or he may make a special arrangement for you - he is not so gloomy as he tries to make out, but don't tell anyone I said so.)

New Zealand, eh? What is it they say?
"You can take the scouse out of the pan but you can't .... erm ...

My vote is now formerly registered for the repeat telling of Eeyore's Christmas story, I am prepared to wait a few more months if necessary. Just a quick scouser joke _ what's the difference between Batman and a scouser ? ..... Batman can go out without robin'

Nice to have you in this thread plaugesville please leave only footprints take only photographs

OK, Chaps. smiley - smiley The Dark and Gloomy Tale will be up there in time for Christmas.

Meanwhile, you might be interested in a preview of my next posting on h2g2 Fiction called Love Letter at http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/A641242. It’s a slight departure from previous stories, but I hope you like it.

Skelligsbro – I’m glad the Liverpool entry touched you. Liverpool is a helluva place to have to leave. I think this whole September 11th attack is making us all think more about our roots and our loved ones. I know I hot-footed it off to Liverpool as soon as I could after the attack.

Plaguesville, old friend. Good to see you here. Hope the new posting gives you a chuckle or two.

See you both later.

PS If the link doesn't work, you'll find it on my page.
