Aliens: Special Edition: it ROCKS!

Yeah. It starts off by turns shocking and slow, but once the marines pile into the dropship and hit the planet, the ecstatic orgy of action, explosions, mild shocks and gunfire begins. Wonderful. Special Edition has the funky Sentry Gun sequence, but not the bit where Ripley gives an impregnated Carter Burke a grenade to kill himself with (that was on a DVD version, I think). Watching this class film makes me wonder what the hell they were thinking of with Alien 3 and Alien:Resurrection, and what a shame it is that James Cameron's gonna be associated with drippy, sub-Mills-and-Boone tosh Titanic instead of marvellous carnage like this.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
