I had my second rally for the year two days ago and stuffed the car. Dead starter motor, one blade left on the fan, running really roughly. It could have been worse, I nearly rolled it and then nearly hit a tree. Hopefully it won't cost too much to fix but I feel really stupid. I was going really well and just made one mistake on one corner and BANG! Ah well, five weeks to the next race so I might be able to get some practice in. It'd be nice to be able to drive properly without the pressure of competition.
As a result of that I also missed a couple of rehearsals for a big concert spectacular I'm meant to be in in a couple of weeks. I'm feeling like I can't be bothered trying to persuade them to let me sing but that could be just my mood.

Only a week or two on h2g2, really enjoying myself, and my employer goes and puts a block on the whole site! That means I've only got home access so if you're dropping in to say hi, please don't be offended if it takes a while for me to reply Better still, check what time it is on the East coast of Australia. We're 10 or so hours ahead of Britain and 14-19 hours ahead of the USA. I generally get home at about 6pm.
Okay, what's happening in my life at the moment? Um, computer programming, singing and rally driving. Eclectic, no?
The first of those is my job. Nuff sed.
The second is a hobby which involves a couple of groups including the Australian National University Choral Society (SCUNA) which has a website at http://www.scuna.aicsa.org.au/ They're a fun bunch but I think that after 10 years I'm nearing the end of my involvement with uni choirs.
The rally driving is the biggest thing. Unless you've done it you have no idea how fun and yet terrifying it is to hurl a small car containing yourself and a navigator down a rough Australian dirt road with only a very sketchy idea of what's ahead. I've only done one rally so far but I'm hooked. I must be mad. The next one is in a couple of weeks and hopefully I won't bust two brand new tyres this time
So that's a vague outline of my life at the moment. Hope I haven't put you off This place is great! I can't believe some of the conversations I've had already. Maybe I'll see you around in one.
