Gingersnapper+Keeper of the Cookie Jar and Stuff and Nonsense Posted Nov 27, 2004
I have been having fun here for over a week now....Your welcome was helpful....Visiting peoples' space is so interesting....I stopped in to visit Lady scott+Keeper of long afternoon napes...just to say hello....& she replyed with because" you are new",she said, she send helpful advise....I wanted to know how to add smileys and that turned out to be very simple...........She sent the url for the hitchhiker game, and I have finally gotten out of the bedroom (with my screwdriver, not left behind on the floor) am down in the mud now asking Prosser what time it is......She said there is a guide to the game, but I do not want it yet...Too tempting to peek too soon.................Am having a nice conversation going on "words on Wisdom" and Pierce the Pirate send url's of interest.......(All is interesting here).....And as you can see>>like St. Dax of good heartedness likes using a lot of ...Dots..all the time........).>>>By for now,..B kind 2 all...(bubbly)

Your question about changing the subject title ~ The orignal title remains the same, only the Editors can change that, and only when the subject title or something it the post breakks the <./>HouseRules</.> and then it's changed to 'Hidden'
If you want to use coloured and different size text you will need to change to GuideML, that's your whole page, not just part of it.

There is a way you do it in steps, I'll just change to Brunel the skin (backgound) you're using, so I offer you the correct advice.

The idea is to open a Guide Entry, change it to GuideML, copy and paste a bit at a time, from you introduction, changing it to GuideML, then when it is all changed, delete you intro and replace with the GuideML version by copy and pasting.
First thing you need to do, on the left or the screen,
click 'Write an Entry'
Scroll down to where you see '[dot]Plain text [dot]GuideML'
Click in [dot]GuideML and click 'Change Style'
You will notice has appeared at the top of the 'Body of Entry' box. These are your opening tags.
And are just below, these are your closing tags. Everything, all text, smileys etc. must be inbetween these sets of tags.
This would be much easier if you can open 2 windows on your browser, can you do that?

Ok, maybe try this later, when your son is about, my son used to help me too.
I need your help Brunel is different from the skin I use, what do you click to add to your Introduction?

The idea of having 2 windows open is in one, you would have clicked 'Edit page' and have you intro open, to copy from and in the other the Guide Entry to paste in.
When you copy and paste to the GuideML entry you need to enter paragraph tags to split ypu text up, how you want it, so if you copied
My 3ed day here...I fell smackdab in the middle here by accident while doing a search for info about Hypatia;the search engine"ask" come up with this place.....There was the name Hypatia at the top of the page, talking about her garden, but even tho it was not the women of early First century AD..370-415............, I began to explore around..We, here all love the Hitchhiker's Guide, so this was the height of serendipity........ love it here, I may never go home..........There is so much to explore and learn whats what........I will want to spruce up this page soon and make it look like "my world"=====
you'd use opening tag, closing tag, paragraph tags
you add smileys in GuideML like this <SMILEY TYPE="yourchosensmiley"/>
would be <SMILEY TYPE="book"/>
I'll go into changing colour and size of text later, let me know if you get stuck, I had a lot of problems getting used to GuideML, so i won't think your or anything

When reading my space...I click on "edit page" at top-right:: and a new screen opens up that allows me to change anything.....I do not want a lot....no flying fish or moving graphics....
I would like< viewer> tag in my Welcome to my world....and to bring a picture or two over from the picture gallery...that are pretty....and a change to the look of a sentence or a word her and there...
Are other skins more easy to work with..?? ?? ??

The skin choice depends on what you like. or what you're used to There was no Brunel skin, when I registered with h2g2, it's the most recent skin. It has some advantages on the other skins, but I find the bright colours in Brunel give me a headache.
I use alabaster, you can try out the other skins, by clicking on 'Preferences' there is also Classic Goo, that was the original skin.
You have tried to put tag in your Subject/Title box, it won't work there.
How much of your current intro do you want in new one?
