You've been here a while, and no one has come to say hello? Shocking. I'm sure you know all this stuff, but I'll say it anyway.

Hi Mina! No, all this time and no-one has come to say hello to little old me. So thanks for the welcome!

I didn't visit the guide much in the early days - wrote a couple of guide entries for fun and they got accepted into the edited guide Ya hoo!

But when Douglas Adams's died I came back to the guide and have started visiting it a lot more. You know I'm so annoyed - DNA was here at the guide the whole time and I could have talked to him any time by replying to one of his conversations - but I never thought of it - I never got the chance to thank him for his books.

The guides gotton big and some of the entries are really good! I like the humor and the off-beat topics - thats why I reckon every one should try to put a bit of humor into their entries.

I do think the editorial process is still way too slow though. I hear people saying they're still waiting 3 months for their entries to get in - thats as bad as it was when I first came here. You know, the whole point of the guide was it was meant to be in real-time - a 3 month wait seems to defeat the whole purpose. I hope its all getting faster.

They do have to wade through an awful lot of stuff, and some entries seem to go quicker than others, the two entries I wrote both took 4 months, but the ones I've contributed to that are on the front page are turned around a lot quicker than that.

Don't worry about not being around to speak to DNA, I thnk I saw him online once in all the time I have been here.

Just thought I'd point out that getting entries into the Edited Guide now goes through Peer Review rather than the old queue process. The downside is that entries that don't get accepted (or recommended, as the terminology now goes) can sit around Peer Review for months, although they *do* usually get some helpful feedback during that period. The upside is that the really good entries can be recommended pretty quickly -- most often within a month, and occasionally within a few days. Anyone can participate in Peer Review, and make their opinions heard regarding whether a particular entry belongs in the edited guide or not -- just click on the green banner at the top of the screen for a quick link to Peer Review.
