Hi Kaushik
We're delighted to see you back on h2g2! We really do need some more authors from India. We know we have a fair few readers from your sub-continent, but not anyway near enough writers and community members.
Thanks so much for your two latest submissions. We're really glad to have them both.
I just noticed that you'd made a start on an entry about Kolkata. As h2g2 is a Guide to the Earth, the Universe and Everything, an entry on this city would be absolutely perfect - particularly written from the perspective of a resident.
I'd suggest, if you did feel the inspiration to write some more about your home city, that you focus on just one aspect - such as employment, or transport, or particular places that a visitor should go to. Otherwise it would turn into a book. You can always write more than one entry, with different aspects to the city.
I hope you don't feel I am being too cheeky, writing to ask you this! But unless I ask, you won't know our interest having you write for us. We'd be absolutely thrilled to receive something from your local perspective, as a Researcher from Kolkata.
best wishes
Lanzababy

Hi Lanzababy
Happy New Year to you too!!!
I'm glad as well to be back with H2G2.
Yes I had started an entry on Kolkata, and I would never mind any suggestions or requests from an experienced researcher or editor like you.
Actually, I had taken up too many articles at a time ... Kolkata, The Mahabharata, Queen of Jhansi, Feluda Films-II, Indian Scientists, One Man Army, and some more, and had messed it up.
Finally I focussed on the entries one at a time and could finish 2 of them I would certainly take up the entry on Kolkata now, and would promarily focus on places of tourist interests and festivals in the first entry.
Thank you so muh for your suggestions and advices.

No worries - I was pleased to see that Elektra had also suggested something very similar. Good luck, and I'll look forward to reading your entries.

Hi Lanzababy
If I want to contribute any photographs snapped by me for the Kolkata article, or any paintings drawn by me for any entry, what do I need to do about that?

Oh yes! Please take photos while you're out and about. That would be absolutely the 'icing on the cake'.
We have a group of volunteers, the 'Artists' whose job is to accept photos from individual researchers, and choose the most suitable. They will crop the images to our specifications and load them into our database.
Once your entry has been accepted for sub-editing, is the best time to send them in. But please, if you have any suitable photographic opportunities, do take advantage.
Their email address is [email protected] - but you will be prompted by an Artist during the editing process Photos should be a fairly large pixel size, so we can manipulate them to their best advantage, but their is a size limit per email that our system will handle accepting. So, one largish image per email works best for us.
Thanks for suggesting this!

Thanks Lanzababy for the details. I'm super-excited about this.
I'd be glad to contribute photographs, as photography has been one of my most favourite hobbies.

That would be wonderful, a photograph makes so much difference to an Entry, especially if it describes a place or an event.

Can I write film-reviews here? Would I need to have permission from the producer for that?
Thouigh I've written entries like Feluda Films or Goopy Gyne Bagha Byne here before, but what about recent films?

Can I submit a page only of photographs on a particular event?

Certainly film reviews are welcome We have a category of cinematic works here:
http://h2g2.com/categories/C492
We also have a further category for Indian cinema.
As for an entry made mainly of photographs, that would of course depend. The Post would probably welcome a photo journal of that type. The Edited Guide is now able to include a good selection of photos, to support the text, but we'd rely mostly on written text, with the photos being for illustration.
eg this is a recent Entry, by Milla, where she included a lot of photos to show various stages in a craft project. A87798875

Hi Lanzababy,
my entry on Indian scientists, shows the entry no. for an entry on Mumbai, in the body itself. Could you please fix that?
Thanx
