Hey, I got my name from the X Files - The best program in the world.
Have you ever seen it???
Hi Jeni

From now on everytime you say that, you owe me a BTVS story. You blew our agreement on that ER story!!!! (Ally S. thinks you're really mean for writing that stuff on your homepage about me!!!!!)

No that was directed to my "friend", Esti. How did u get your name??

Hi Jimi X, OK here it is. I got my name from The X Files, Only the best show in the world. Have you ever seen it?? Come on then spill the beans, where did you get yours?? Your friend thought I stole it from you - ha ha ha, I didn't even know who you were until an hour ago!!

Bad enough you've already given the game away. If you mention names then you will be dead and I'll never talk to you again and I mean it!

Yeah, I've seen the X Files (I *am* a Yank after all!), but I'm sort of cooling toward it. In fact, I've sort of cooled to TV in general. Don't watch nearly enough to justify the national average!!
As for the name (it's kind of a long story so you may want to get a drink before I start):
When I worked at a local amusement park in food services, we used to play 'Guess the middle name' when we got bored. Since I have a fairly obscure middle name (it's my mother's maiden name) nobody could ever guess mine and I got tired of being harassed about that. So I started telling people it was 'X'
And when they asked what the 'X' stood for I told them it was just 'X'.
When they asked why I had an X for a middle name, I told them this story...
My father wanted me named after him so on my birth certificate he wrote James Hazen (my real last name), but my mother was so exhaused from the delivery (I was a 10-plus pound baby) that she just wrote an 'X' on the birth certificate where the middle name should go. And that was how my name was legally recorded by the state.
Ergo, Jimi X!
Kind of a silly story eh?
Even worse, the name stuck and everyone at work called me Jimi X for years, even after they forgot the stupid story and 15 years later, I still use it as a nickname from time to time.
Just remember, you asked for it!

Hey, that's a really cool story. Slightly longer than mine. Have u ever seen ER, what about Buffy, I still don't understand it!!
Hi Jeni
Jimi X Posted Feb 9, 2000
We watch ER at my house every Thursday night (though I wish they'd produce the whole season at once instead of giving us new episodes in dribs and drabs with older ones scattered throughtout!). As far as Buffy goes, I've watched it a few times in re-runs at very late in the evening, but for the most part I don't watch much TV, except for the Simpsons, ER, X-Files, and some random news shows. I hate TV. It really seems to becomming more and more pointless every year. (The writing here on h2g2 is much better than a typical sit-com...)
