Welcome to h2g2 – not just the friendliest on-line community but an incredibly huge, living, breathing guide to Life, the Universe and Everything. It’s compiled by researchers just like you and it's something YOU can take part in. You can write entries on all manner of subjects, and if it's something you think would look good in our Edited Guide (where all the best research goes), you can submit it to Peer Review Take a look at the <./>writing-guidelines</.> for more information on that.

I hope when you get to know us a little better you'll open your personal space and tell us a little about yourself - but there's no rush - and it's not compulsory

We ACEs are volunteers here to assist new researchers so if you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask.

Thanks for your assistace and wonder ifyou can help me/Ihave been trying to send a message and after I check the preview I did not find the Post Message button as I have now.I am being told to send a message and being told to introduce myself Thank you,hope to receive from you again

I don't know why you couldn't find the Post Message button - it should be in the same place as it was when you sent the message that I am replying to. Is it possible that you just didn't scroll down far enough?

The other message you posted seems to have worked too - but you posted it to your own space - that's like writing a letter to the world and leaving it on the the notice board in your room - no one will see it unless they visit You also didn't fill in the Subject box so it has come up as "No Subject" Follow the New Researchers link in the Welcome message to get a good idea of how this place works - you could also use what you have written there as the intro on your personal space

Don't forget to open your space - even just "hi" will do - you can always change it and add to it later, It's a great way for people to find out a little about who they are speaking to, and you can find out a little about them by just clicking on the name at the top of their message

I am trying to find someone who was in Malta between 1943 and 1978 prior to the British withrawal sorry somebody called and have to leave see you soon again.

Do you mean someone specific or just anyone who was in Malta during those years?

To-day I want to introduse myself.I am a pentioner and aged 80 years on the 27th.February and am taking h2g2 as my past time.I srarted work in 1943 during ww2 as a messenger boy with REME,My chief then was a Major Dobbie a nephew of the Governor of Malta I changed to an apprentice electrician,upgraded to an ECE technician and EME technician on medical equipment.After the closure of the british base together with other business opened the first Servicing Medical equipment company in Malta operating localy and in north africa.As I said now I am a pensioner an whenever possible I holydaying overseas.That is all,I hope it is of interest.Bye.Escuse my english at times and correct me.cARMEL
