My top three, in fact, from three through to one:
3. Bryan Robson
2. Eric Cantona
1. Michel Platini

Now, this has nothing (OK, almost nothing) to do with my nationality -- but I insist on including Michael Laudrup.
Hmmm, what about Pele (or is it Pélé, Pelé, or Péle ???)
That was two more...
Best regards,
SG V

Now, I'm a closet Denmark fan. I think it stems from when we signed Jesper Olsen and John Sivebaek. I remember watching Preben Elkjaer in the 82 World Cup as well. And I've seen a lot of both Laudrup brothers. Why do you rate the older one as best? I know Brian can be a bit fickle, but just on footballing terms, it must be a close call.

It sure is a close call. Possibly I didn't include both just to avoid having the list made up of Danes all of a sudden
Brian probably from a "creating results" point of view is the better of the brothers -- but Michael had that fabulous "I have seen an opportunity here that none of the other 21 let alone the thousands watching it have considered" quality. Eehhh - do you know a word for that?
If you saw the Brazil-Denmark match in the last world cup (best match in the whole tournament -- the Brasilians were fair enough to say that it might equally well have been us winning 3-2), there is an excellent example in that one...
And for goalkeepers, there's Peter Schmeichel...
