NaJoPoMo -2- 2013 Lanzababy
Posted Nov 2, 2013
Last year, Create ran a challenge or two and one of which was to write a book review for the Edited Guide. We had some great submissions, one of which was 'The Book Thief' A87768391. So, I bought a copy of the book and began to read it. Then life intervened, and the book and I parted company for over a whole year.
Well then, move forward to this week and I started reading over from the beginning. It's incredibly moving, and I've very nearly finished it. I've got so close to the end I don't really want to read those final pages in case the ending isn't just how I'd hope it to be.

It's exactly a year since I wrote in my journal. So, bear with me while I juggle some brain cells.
Today, I am battling with insomnia. I woke at 5.55 am which is a step forward from the 1, 2 and 3am wakenings recently. But now awake, I think I should get the coffee brewing, and do a quick bit of cleaning before finding something more interesting to do for the rest of the day.
Yesterday was really grey here to start with. You can see the view I had when I opened the curtains -

This is a bad photo, taken with the Samsung tablet camera. My own camera has become parted with its photo card... long story. But if you want a tablet mainly for the camera aspect, do not choose the Samsung Galaxy.
It's just got here light now, so I'm off to find out what today looks like.
See you later!

I've just been offered these by online florists.

Look away if you have any taste whatsoever.
Mind you, I seriously thought 'I wonder if they deliver to Spain?' then they could go onto my husband's grave. I say grave but really it's a sort of walled cemetery. A niche. Dia de los muertos is coming up and I shall not be there to clean and provide fresh flowers. I think K would have appreciated the black humour of having eery roses.

Glorious Twelfth?
Posted Aug 12, 2012
I've been sitting here, next to an open window (yes folks it is summer, sort of, even at this height) and instead of the gentle background of birdsong, and rustling trees - all I can hear is a constant sound of shotguns - further away across the moors.
To begin with, I just blanked it out, thinking nothing of it. Shotguns are common here, either to deal with foxes, or to use for clay pigeon shooting. But today is the first time ever when I realise what is going on. Hundreds of birds are being shot in the name of 'sport'.
I feel edgy. There must be a shot at least once every five seconds and it's been going on for over an hour. Some sport eh?

Quizaz, Quizaz, Quizaz.... is a Spanish song sung in English by my childhood idol/role model, Doris Day.
I always thought that her famous version of Que Sera, Sera would be one to accompany to my desert island, as it is so much the sound of my childhood, and I still love it as it brings back so many memories. But now, I bring you 'Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps.
