I'm quite confused how things work here in terms of Underguide..Post..etc.
Obviously that Caddis thing is done now..and I just wait to hear if it is accepted..and then upload some biological drawings.
But I want to start submitting things like poems. I have the most incredible amount I've written in my life..I have most but it will be a big sort out because they are on all kinds of scraps of paper and not ordered.
I'm not writing poems at present...but I might get back into it.
I also have a lot of bits of text.

There has been a lot of nastiness directed at me here of late by various people. I want to completely ignore that now and let them get on with it..if they've got nothing else inside them.
I most certainly do. And yeah I'll take the RISK that people won't like my work.
I *absolutely* have to get away from worrying about gossip. This has always been the way to do it.
But I am confused about the best place to contribute to. I've hardly ever read the Post. I don't know many who do..or am I wrong..
So I don't think to contribute to that.
*Most important for me* Don't get drawn into pedantry etc from people who are completely missing the point of something I wrote.
So what do you suggest I should start getting into as a first step?

Hello Effers,
why don't you contact one of the gurus? Open the h2g2 help tab on the left of your screen. That would be a start and good luck.

Hi Effers,
Poetry is always highly appreciated in the Alternative Writing Workshop
Writing-Alternative where it will have supportive reviewing by the likes of Dmitri, minorvogonpoet, and many others who volunteer to offer feedback.
After that, it can be snapped up by Dmitri, perhaps, for the Post.
Do take a look at the guidelines in the AWW for further information.
@Lapis - very sorry but the Gurus are technical support, not Editorial

Hey thanks Lanza.
I had a look and all feels very structured and rigid to me..and I could imagine very off putting to a lot of people..for something called 'Alternative' Just a pale copy of the PR system for EG entries.
But I'm very confident about my writing as I did it since seven on and off.
As things have gone so wrong for me in other areas here though..it might be a blessing in disguise. I only started writing poems as a young child because of deep unhappiness...no-one told me to do it.
I'll submit according to guidlines..can I only do one thing at a time? I don't want to be accused of 'flooding' again.
So I do an entry and then submit?

My own opinion is that we should all loosen up a lot about writing here outside the Edited Guide area..and get people mucking about...but I don't like a term like 'flea market'...it sounds very 3rd rate.
Anyway first things first..get involved..And for me I'll always carry on mucking about in journals now..and maybe link them to this experience..See how it goes.

I would choose one of the poems that you would like to share, and submit it to the AWW. Then you can test the responses you get back.
The Flea Market was the destination for nearly completed Entries from Peer Review - such as when an author vanished before the Entry was finished. The Editors can move the Entry there in the hopes that someone else can salvage them, and turn them into published Entries.
I've helped authors by doing that a few times, which is why I have that brown 'Scavenger' badge on my PS. It means I rescued things from Flea Market.
The term I am less than happy about is the word 'UnderGuide' which sounds rather miserable, and it's been completely abandoned in recent times too. Apparently there is some good stuff in there, which I would love to have recommended as Showcase material.

I'm a bit torn about what to submit.
I have a fair amount of classic 'strong emotion recollected in tranquility' stuff.
I also have a lot of very aggressive and full on stuff that I wrote when I was part of a performance group for music and poetry here in London.
The latter stuff is within House Rules I think...but if any runs the risk of breaching them I will tone it down.
My aim is to get writing some more stuff now. My pattern is basically..long periods of writing a lot..and then periods of not.
I think I'll try out some of the full on aggessive stuff first and see what reception it gets here.
I know my other stuff is liked here from when I posted in journals. But I like to RISK if I'm to move on a writer..it's the only way it works in my experience.
I'll post something later today to the Alternative Writing Workshop.

Sounds a good start Effers.
As well as submitting your own writing, do feel welcome to comment on the other things that have been submitted there as well. It's a place for sharing thoughts.

Yes I shall be sharing. I've only been doing that with fellow artists for the past 20 years.
The only way it works is if you can find a way to be *part* of things.
You don't get a good degree from Goldsmith's in Fine Art without knowing that...or even good biology degree without understanding the fundamental of being able to communicate information in a way that society can accept.
My problem is that can I ever find a way to do it in *this community* *this place*
That's the whole thing.
Unfortunately some good friends of mine have now left this place...and one is planning to leave slowly...because its now 'a bridge too far'
Compromise is good; but if it just leads you down some crummy street to a Coca Cola scenario...it's time to call it a day.
I'll be on it later...and very sharing.
Key: Complain about this post
