when I saw BMT suggest that one could just unsubscribe from the threads that took them past the 34 page limit*
Oh dear. And then Gnomon posted saying he has x thousands of threads in his list
Anyway, I'm obviously wrong about it being a beta timing thing, but 34 does seem a strange cut off point.
*I actually find it hard to believe that someone who's been here so long has only eleven pages of convos

I feel sad at the thought that so many messages between friends here could possibly be wiped off the face of the earth.
At least in the new Ask h2g2 the conversations appear to date all the way back to 1999.
* maybe I am just anal about the words I write and read

No, I agree. It's important, and one can search one's convo list backlog relatively easily under dna/h2g2.
The Message Centre convo list goes the full distance

If all else fails I shall have to go and do a mass unsubscribe to the more banal and insignificant convos. I really do want to retain some of the things I wrote in places such as other people's journals and Peer Review and so on.

Spring is going very well here I put in some early lettuces and have to cover them up every night because we're still getting alot of frosts. But otherwise it's been warm and mellow
How's things with you?

Hi! It's all Autumnal here, the leaves started to change colour a few weeks back - in August but then suddenly we've been getting a few better days again.
Things have been a bit pressured recently as my mum became ill, but hopefully things are stable with her again now. Old age is pants. I shall also be a lot better once we're successfully through the h2g2 transition and I get a life back!

That sounds full on. I've been thinking about this alot as my parents are ageing but not at the needing help from others stage yet.
Did the Committee give you a date for when you get your life back?
