Well super!
Did you know that lots of Canary Island Date Palms have been planted here in South Africa? They do quite well in the climate ... well, the climate in much of the country that is! A few places are too dry and I think the northeast corner might be too hot.
If I have a botanic garden some day, I'll certainly want a corner of it dedicated to Canary Island plant species!
