Cor, sorry I was away so long, I had the lurgy in the week before xmas and yesterday was my first day back at w*rk, so it was predictably NOT calm!
I'm glad you all had good christmases. I am looking forward to new years Another day off! Woohoo!
The snow came and went while I was ill unfortunately, so I'm hoping we get some more between now and my birthday (us early year birthdayers are, I think, the only people who love early spring. As I call the end of winter )

Be careful of the train: that's down to three wheels too. Part of the government's austerity measures.

Sorry to hear you were * that * ill Robyn - glad to see you back!
I hope the travellers had a good train journey. Did you hear that the Eurotunnel had major problems before Christmas Paul? At one point there were 5 trains trapped inside it and thousands of passengers had to be evacuated...it was the wrong kind of snow apparently.

Both I and my man were laid up, sniffling and coughin all over each other and sharing medicines ("Is this my tray of beechams or yours?" "I dobt care, gimme!") and taking turns to stock up on lucozade and soup...
Anyway, we heard about the eurothingy. His response was 'Sod that, I'd bloody walk'. I suggested that this was probably the only answer anyway, so it was lucky he felt that way.
I love the snow. And driving in it. Some people do find it easier to start off in third or second, I find first is easiest, I have better control and am not over-revving to get the wheels to move without spinning them... I kept trying to tell people, Gentle and smooth. If you remember to be both gentle and smooth, your driving will work, if you're impatient and jerky, you'll lose traction and get nowhere!
Oh, and I wasn't at death's door, it was just a nasty cold and my sinuses got a bit infected as per!

Gentle and slow is my approach in the snow, too.

Me! but I gave up proper w*rk years ago.
I've just planned the smoked salmon and for this evening.
tax return needs filling in - and washing needs doing - but on the plus side, I've got my air flight sorted for Sunday.
Yay!

I'm finishing early, unfortunately I couldn't manage a day off, but there we go, it's a relaxed sort of wind-down of a day so no real stress now our manager's left for his half day (what he doesn't see, he doesn't have to report or tell people off for is his philosophy on days like this!)

Ho! I am planning to come to the Bristol meet though.
So far I have achieved precisely nothing this morning, procrastination rules

Hello Lanza & everybody else
I hope you all had a great New Year with friends, family & maybe strangers. Lanza, strangers can be the most welcoming & accommodating people you'll ever meet. Once I went to Wales (I know, what was I doing?), & I was treated as a princess by people I didn't know, purely because I was Scottish. The eldest son in the household gave up his bed for me. I was overwhelmed by the generosity, once I had sobered up
