617 Squadron, The Dambusters
kitrapsjasani Started conversation Jan 3, 2014
I am beginning to write my article on the above. But before I start, I have a question that I think may be worthwhile looking into. I have some information about a low level German raid that took place almost four years before the "The Dambusters Raid." This, low level German raid took place over the south coast of England, at the time of "Battle of Britain." The target was a Airbase. Should I mention this? Do I need to mention this?

I think I may try and see if this fits in.

But I still need some advice on this.
Thanks.

This isn't my specialist subject, I'm afraid, so I can't help you with your question.
You may find someone with knowledge of this if you start a thread in Ask h2g2 A148907 though.
Good luck!

Hi Sasha.
I am trying to see if I can see how I can get onto Peer Review but I can't seem to see anything. I am seeing what I can do about it.

Hi Sasha
Thanks.
I have just posted the question in "How Do I?" and I hope that someone will answer.
One thing that I do like is writing articles here and I hope that I can do this for as long as possible.

The Research is taking a bit more longer then I had expected but this is because I am looking into "The Treaty of Versailles" and how Germany was affected and also what happened when they could not meet certain aspects of the agreement that ended the First World War. I believe that Germany failed once and the French occupied the Ruhr area of Germany in which these dams were situated. This what I looking into as much as possible. After all the Ruhr area was an Industrial area. So somewhere along the article, I will probably be mentioning "The Treaty of Versailles" and hopefully this will be a major link to the article itself.

I accidentally clicked on the icon for complaining on here. This was not intended and I apologise for this error.

Just to let you know that I have not forgotten about this article. I am working on the script but am also waiting for some information which I have been informed that has been sent to me to read up on but as yet have not received it. I do apologise for this delay.

I have now a lot more substantial information on this then I had before and am going through it and am updating it. I am also expecting more information.
I am making sure that all information is as accurate as possible and am also trying to make sure that when its ready, I am able to post it on here and readers can say that its the most update and informative and one that is worth a good read. But the only small problem is that I am not keeping well and it has slowed me down quite a bit. But that is not a problem as I know I can do it.

Good to see you here again, and glad to hear you're doing well with information gathering
All the best, and I look forward to seeing the Entry in Peer Review when it's ready

Hi Sasha.
How are you?
I am not sure if you have heard on the news that the last surviving Pilots who was involved in the Dambusters raid, named Les Munro, has passed away in his home country of New Zealand. He was aged 96. His name will be appearing in the article as well.
I am seriously hoping that this is completed by the end of September.
Take care.

I'm fine thanks
I did hear about the last surviving pilot - your Entry will be excellent to pay tribute to him and the others and I look forward to seeing it when you're ready - best wishes with that

Hi Sasha.
The research on my article is taking much longer then I had expected and the reason for this is that there's a lot more information coming in for me to go through. Some of this information was only made available recently and it is this that is making me take a long time in reading it all and making my own notes (so that I am able to understand) and make it easier for the readers. So, though I was hoping that this would be ready by the end of next month, it seems that this will no longer be the case. Hopefully, it should be ready by the end of the year. I know that many of my friends are waiting as they have asked me "when is your next article coming on?" I have not told them anything or what it is about.
Take café and speak to you soon.
