Alaska

I will soon be traveling to Las Vegas. While there, I hope to partake in the local customs. Many of the local customs seem to be obsessed with various levels of debauchery. I will also try to investigate reasons as to the excessive Asian tourist issue. This, of course, is not an issue to many Asian tourist agencies.

Welcome, Alaska, to the grand world of H2G2! Are you from Alaska IRL, or is it just a dream? I've always wanted to visit there, myself. If there's anything that we can do for you or any questions that you have, just ask or visit http://www.h2g2.com/A214796 . This is the ACEs' homepage and contains many helpful articles, as well as a list of people you can turn too. The most important thing is this: Enjoy yourself! smiley - smiley

Thanks for the cordial greetings, Gw7en. I find your name exceedingly difficult to pronounce, but it was easier when I tried pronouncing it while falling down some stairs.

No, I don't live in Alaska. I live in Dallas, Texas. But I have been to Alaska many times. I call myself Alaska because I am big, I am white, and old people like to cruise by and look at me. I just made that up, but I may very well use it again.

I am fascinated by this H2G2 phenomenon. I still am not sure what to think of it...but I think I like it...I think.

Gw7en -

Can you please answer a quick GuideML question? If you look at my guide entry for Andersen Consulting, I tried to use GuideML. It looks fine, but I think I kind of hacked it to get it to look right. Whenever I wanted to skip a space between paragraphs (so they did not look jammed together), I would insert a "". Two of those things seemed to do the trick, but that doesn't seem like the optimal way to go about it... Please help! smiley - smiley

The name is easier to pronounce when you know that the "7" is silent. smiley - winkeye

As for the GuideML issue, usually doing a paragraph break (</p&gtsmiley - winkeye then a return stroke and a line break (<br&gtsmiley - winkeye followed by anotherreturn stroke will do the trick. That should be a little easier for you. Let me know if there's anything else I can help you with! (BTW, the entry looks pretty darn good. You must work for/with Andersen Consulting. smiley - smiley )

Texas, eh? Very nice! How do you like it?

Hey thanks for the compliment... We'll see if it makes it in. I noticed some of these things have a delta of 10 weeks before they make it into the guide...

Texas is real nice. Except for the snow monkeys. They are all over the place this time of year. Where do you live?

Speaking of snow monkies... smiley - winkeye

I'm in Denver, CO. We have the opposite problem from you - people come here chasing the snow! We haven't got so many this year though, since we haven't got too much snow. Its kind of quiet up here this year.

I spent a year up in Boulder recently building a web customer service system for Level 3 Communications. That was my last gig as a consultant... I used to work for Andersen Consulting, then for a smaller startup Internet consultancy... Now I have started my own business with a few friends. Denver and Boulder were nice. The girls were a little earthy for my taste, and I am sure a fair amount of them had grooming issues, if you know what I mean.

That's mostly Boulder. After Mork and Mindy hit the airwaves, they decided to lock themselves eternally in the worst part of the sixties. (Which I always found funny since M&M didn't come out until the 70s...) I live in a northern 'burb of Denver which I find to be quite yuppy, actually. Its kinda fun zipping my little car around the station wagons and SUVs. smiley - smiley

I almost worked for L3, but BVRP yanked me away from them at the last minute. Overall I'm pretty happy with that chain of events. Are you still consulting in your new company or have you moved on to something else?

I'm sick of consulting. It is really a scaled down microcosm of the ideal Marxist society.

I now own an Internet startup called Individual Network. It's infinitely more fulfilling, and there are less Russians with goatees trying to confiscate a huge portion of my earnings.

Sounds like you are much happier now! And avoiding the bad accentskis as well! smiley - winkeye
